Simon West is a film director born on 17 July1961, in Hertfordshire, England, and is best known for directing films like “Con Air” (1997), “The General’s Daughter” (1999), “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider” (2001) and “The Expendables 2” (2012). He has also directed many BBC documentaries and Budweiser commercials.

Have you ever wondered how rich Simon West is? According to sources it has been estimated that Simon West’s overall net worth is $15 million, which wealth he has accumulated thanks to the films he has directed and his cooperation with many celebrities. His work with trans–Atlantic companies such as Ford and Budweiser, has also added to his net worth.

West’s career began in 1981 when he began working for BBC in London as a film editor, during which he took part in several award-winning productions such as the “Strangeways Prison” documentary series, and drama series “Bleak House”, both of which won the renowned British Academy of Film and Television Arts award. However, his independent directing career started in 1985 when he was chosen to direct, and write, the “Dolly Mixtures” film. From this point on his career started expanding, and he soon started directing music videos for stars such as Rick Astley and Mel and Kim, for whose single “Respectable” he won the Best Video award at the Montreux Music Festival in 1987. His net worth was rising accodingly.

As his popularity began to rise, Simon moved to Los Angeles after beginning work on “Limelight” in 1991. Only a year later, when he moved to Pilot Pictures, he received two awards for his work – a Clio Award for “Airplane” and a Golden Lion Award for “Italian Feast”. As he was good at propaganda materials, West then started directing commercials, thus attracting numerous companies, including McDonalds, Sprite, Ford and Budweiser. His most famous commercial was the one he did for Pepsi, which was declared the highest rated commercial in USA in 1993. These projects also helped Simon’s rising net worth.

The second half of the ‘90s proved to be very prosperous for Simon, as he directed the blockbuster “Con Air”, which starred Nicolas Cage and John Malkovich in 1997 and two years later “The General’s Daughter”, a crime film starring John Travolta. In 2001 he cooperated with Angelina Jolie while directing “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider”, the movie being based on the popular an action adventure video game of the same name. West was originally supposed to be the director of the Oscar-nominated “Black Hawk Down”, as he spent two years developing the script, but due to scheduling conflicts with his other films he wasn’t able to direct it, but was the executive producer of the film. His net worth certainly didn’t suffer!

In 2006 he directed the horror film “When a Stranger Calls”. West also directed the 2011 remake of “The Mechanic”, an action-thriller which starred Jason Statham and Ben Foster. The same year he replaced Sylvester Stallone as the director of “The Expendables 2”, a movie which starred all of the most famous action-movie stars including, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Some of his latest activities include directing the films “Stolen” (2012), crime thriller “Wild Card” (2015) and the remake of “The Blob” (2015). Simon is currently working on an upcoming British action thriller film called “Stratton: First into Action”, which is set for release in 2016.

Not much is noted about West’s personal life, as he prefers to keep it private. However, it is known that he has been married to Amadea since 1995.
