Siedah Garrett Wiki Biography

Siedah Garret was born on 24 June 1958, in Los Angeles, California USA and is a songwriter and singer, best known for writing numerous songs for various popular recording artists, including Michael Jackson, Donna Summer, Madonna, and Jennifer Hudson. She has also performed as a backing vocalist for many of the tracks she’s written, but all of her efforts have helped put her net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Siedah Garrett? As of mid-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $10 million, mostly earned through a successful career in songwriting which began in the late ‘70s. She’s been nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Original Song, and won a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media. As she continues her career, it is expected that her wealth will also continue to increase.

One of Garrett’s first public appearances was as a contestant in the show “Password Plus” in 1980, and that year also performed as the lead of the song “One Man Woman” and “The Places You Find Love” on the Quincy Jones album “Back on the Block”. In 1982, she joined the group Plush and they would release an album. She would go on to score a few hits during this period including “Did You Want It Right Now” and “Don’t Look Any Further”. She went on to tour and record with Sergio Medes throughout the 1980s, appearing on three of his albums.

In 1987, Siedah became involved in the Michael Jackson album “Bad”, in which she performed a duet on the song “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”, subsequently recorded in several different languages. She thought she was only going to be a background vocalist for the song, but was later surprised when she got the duet role. She also co-wrote the hit single “Man in the Mirror”, so her net worth was starting to increase significantly at this point. She continued contributing on Quincy Jones’ albums, mainly as a songwriter.

Siedah has also tried her hand at acting, appearing in the pilot of “Wally and the Valentines” in 1989, which led her to become the host of the show “America’s Top 10”.

In 1992, she toured with Michael Jackson on his Dangerous World Tour, and she also wrote a few songs for the “Dangerous” album. Garrett decided to release a solo album entitled “Kiss of Life” some time prior to joining Michael on the tour.

In 1996, Siedah joined the Brand New Heavies for one album, then later she became a backing singer in the Madonna “The Re-Invention Tour”, having already worked with Madonna in years prior to the tour. Her net worth continued to build thanks to these opportunities.

In 2006, she provided songwriting for the film adaptation of “Dreamgirls”, helping produce two new songs for the film, which led her to two Academy Award nominations and a win. The following year, she represented America at the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics World Summer Games.

In 2011, she co-wrote songs for the animated film “Rio”, and would then make an appearance in an episode of “American Idol”. Three years later she started collaborating with several other artists, with one of her projects during this time being a remake of the Toto song “Africa”.

Little is known about Garrett’s personal life, although in October 2014 she married Erik Nuri, a Harvard graduate who is also in the music industry.
