Sidiki Diabate Wiki Biography

Mamadou Sidiki Diabaté was born on 8 February 1982, in Bamako, Mali and also uses Madou as his stage name. He is perhaps best known as a prominent Mandé kora and jeli player and who has released songs such as ‘’Choisie’’ and ‘’Dakan Tigui’’.

So just how rich is Sidiki Diabaté as of late 2017? Diabaté’s net worth is estimated by authoritative sources to be over $100,000, accumulated from his career as a singer which now spans over 25 years.

Being born into a musically-orientated family, which allegedly provided 72 generations of musicians who played kora, it was only natural for Sidiki to express an interest in that field. He started playing an eight-stringed kora at the age of three, tutored by his father, and so he would often accompany his family playing at weddings, baptisms and other ceremonies.

At the age of 10, Sidiki had his first European tour. When it comes to Diabaté’s further music career, jazz made a big impression on him, but besides that we can hear other foreign influences in his opus. The beginning of Sidiki’s solo career was marked by the release of his song ‘’You Know’’, which was followed by other songs that had a positive response from audiences. On 13 May 2014, he released an album entitled ‘’Toumani and Sidiki’’ in collaboration with his father, who is still a prominent African musician. The album had 10 songs, including ‘’Bansang’’, ‘’Hamadoun Toure’’ and ‘’Rachid Ouiguini’’, and was described as ‘’beautiful, unadorned recordings with haunting rhythms with both players swapping solos and basslines’’. Toumani and Sidiki’s musical partnership was said to be ‘’certainly the first of its kind, highly respected’’, by All Music’s critic Timothy Monger. Moving forward, Sidiki released other 11 songs on the album entitled ‘’Lamomali’’ in April 2017. ‘’L’ Ame au Mali’’ was created in a collaboration with his father an artist named Jain, among others, whereas he worked with Philippe Jaroussky and Kerfala Kanté on ‘’Le Bonheur’’. Overall, he has been playing kora with some of the most prominent West African singers and musicians, including Kandia Kouyaté and Baaba Maal, among others, performing at some of the most important festivals, and in many concerts on other continents, including Europe and North America.

However, Diabaté isn’t solely focused on playing kora and jeli, and has recorded numerous songs in other genres, including hip hop. His song ‘’Fais Moi Confiance’’ was released in 2016 and achieved success, being listened to more than 8.4 million times on YouTube. In the same manner, his song, ‘’Inianafi Bedena’’ has had more than 12 million hits. When it comes to his latest projects, ‘’Je suis désolé’’ was released in early 2017, and as of today has more than 6.8 million views in addition to his song ‘’Galo Te Me Bolila’’, posted on YouTube only in late 2017, being listened to more than 120,000 times. His other solo songs include ‘’Choisie’’ and ‘’Massaya’’. Diabaté’s music skills have earned him three nominations in 2016, including the Inianafi Debena in the category of Best African Male Video of the Year.

Diabaté doesn’t share much information about his private life, but is married to Safiatou. His family is well known to the media, with both his father and grandfather being successful African musicians. Sidiki is also active on Facebook and Twitter, having more than 740,000 followers on the former.
