Prior to her acting career, Gless worked as a secretary for advertising agencies and film production companies. In the mid-’70s she took acting classes and signed a 10-year contract with Universal Studios, being the last contract player in the history of Hollywood.

These included series such as “Marcus Welby, M.D.” and “Faraday and Company”, and films like “Bonnie’s Kids” and “The Islander”. Her performance enabled her to gain great popularity, finding herself in the hearts and minds of many fans. It also brought her a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award, plus significantly improving her wealth.
