Shane Smith was born on the 29th September 1969 in Ottawa, Ontario Canada, and is a journalist and web entrepreneur best known as one of the founders of the international media company VICE Media.
Have you ever wondered how rich Shane Smith is, as of early 2016? According to sources, it has been estimated that the overall sum of Shane Smith`s net worth is an incredible $1.27 billion, with the main source of his net worth being his career as a journalist, for which he has won an Emmy award. He has been active as a journalist since 1994.
Before he became known to the world, Shane attended the Lisgar Collegiate Institute, a secondary school in Ottawa, and then enrolled at the prestigious Carleton University, from which he graduated with degrees in English literature and Political science.
Shane`s net worth began to rise in 1994, when he co-founded Voice Of Montreal, which two years later became the Vice Media, with Gavin McInnes and Suroosh Alvi. After the initial success of the company, it moved from Canada to Brooklyn, New York USA in 2001. Since then, the company`s popularity has been in a constant rise, and so has Shane`s overall net worth. It started expending from the early news prints to digital media in the 2006, which resulted in a collaboration with You Tube, HBO, and also Intel in 2010.
In 2013, the company started its own special on HBO, in which Shane and other correspondents cover news from around the world, and for which Shane earned an Emmy award for Outstanding Informational Series or Special. The show is now in its fourth season, and is only adding to Shane`s net worth. As of 2016, Vice expanded its area to a record label, a television production studio, and a book-publishing house.
To speak further of his accomplishments with Vice, Shane has traveled across the globe, covering news stories from Iran, North Korea, Greenland, Afghanistan, and Liberia, as a part of the “Vice Guide To Travel”. Furthermore, he is a host of the Vice HBO show and Vice Special Report.

In 2015 he was the winner of Frank Stanton Award for Excellence in Communication, and also won the Los Angeles Press Club Public Service Award In Journalism. Most recently, Shane has been listed as one of “Canada`s Richest People” by the Canadian Business magazine.
