Sean Patrick Thomas Wiki Biography
Sean Patrick Thomas was born on 17 December 1970, in Washington D.C. USA, to Cheryl, a financial analyst for DuPont, and Carlton Thomas, an engineer for DuPont, of Guyanese descent. He is an actor, probably best known for his roles in the film “Save the Last Dance”, and the television series “The District”.
So just how rich is Sean Patrick Thomas now? Sources state that Thomas has amassed a net worth of over $1 million, as of early 2017. The main source of his wealth has been his acting career which now spans over 20 years.
Thomas grew up in Wilmington, Delaware, along with his two siblings, where he attended Brandywine High School. He later enrolled at the University of Virginia to study law, but eventually transferred to Graduate Acting Program at the Tisch School of the Arts, obtaining his master’s degree in 1996.
He went on to make his television debut the same year, appearing in the series “New York Undercover”. Shortly after, he made his film debut, with a small part in the war film “Courage Under Fire”. By the end of the decade he had landed several more television guest appearances, and took roles in films like “Conspiracy Theory” and “Cruel Intentions”. His fortune was at its start.
In 2000 Thomas was cast as Detective Temple Page in the CBS television police drama “The District”, and remained on the show until its cancellation in 2004. It significantly contributed to his net worth and he started to get recognized after this role, earning his first taste of fame. In the meantime, he was quite active on the big screen as well. In 2000 he played Trick in the vampire horror film “Dracula 2000”, and a year later he landed the lead role of Derek Reynolds in the popular teen romance film “Save the Last Dance”, opposite Julia Stiles. Aside from enjoying an astonishing popularity with audiences, the film was a great commercial success too, grossing over $90 million domestically, enabling Thomas to earn a sizable income. The blessings of its success also contributed to Thomas’ popularity, securing him a decent fan base.
In 2002 he landed the role of Jimmy James in the hit comedy film “Barbershop”, and reprized his role of Jimmy Jones in the 2004 sequel “Barbershop 2: Back in Business”. Meantime he played Rudy Grimes in the eighth installment of the “Halloween” film series, “Halloween: Resurrection”. and then appeared in the acclaimed film “The Fountains” in 2006, and in the 2008 horror “The Burrowers”. All added to his net worth.
In the years since, Thomas has tackled a mix of television and film work. He had the recurring role as Special Agent Karl Dupree in the television series “Lie To Me”, and as Alan Townsend in the comedy series “Reaper”. Around this time, he appeared on stage as well, playing the title role in a production of “Othello”. He then played a bodyguard, Solomon Vessida, in several episodes of the series “Ringer”, and also added a couple of television films to his resume. His involvement in all these projects enabled him to establish his spot in Hollywood, and to earn good money too.
Thomas’ most recent film part was in the third sequel of “Barbershop”, the 2016 “Barbershop: The Next Cut”, and his most recent involvement on the small screen was the same year, in the series “NCIS: New Orleans”.
When it comes to his private life, Thomas has been married to actress Aonika Laurent since 2006. The couple has two children together.
