Sarah Brightman Wiki Biography
Sarah Brightman is a famous English singer, actress, dancer and songwriter, as well as a film producer. Sarah Brightman is perhaps best known from her Broadway performances, namely a musical called “The Phantom of the Opera”, where she portrayed the character of Christine Daae. A classical crossover soprano, Sarah Brightman rose to prominence with the release of her fifth studio album entitled “Timeless” or “Time to Say Goodbye” in the United States, which became Brightman’s best-selling album to date. Released in 1997, “Timeless” topped the Billboard charts for 35 weeks and went Platinum in the United States, selling more than 1.4 million copies.
Brightman’s international success started in 2004 with the “Harem World Tour”, launched to support her eighth studio album “Harem”, released a year prior to the tour. The tour proved to be a success, as it grossed over $60 million with more than 700 000 tickets sold. More recently, Sarah Brightman launched her eighth world tour and, in addition to it, intends to leave a mark on the world as the first musician to ever sing in space, as she will join a crew of three people that will travel to the International Space Station in 2015.
In addition to her singing career, in 2008 Sarah Brightman debuted in a horror-rock opera “Repo! The Genetic Opera” with Paris Hilton, Alexa Vega, Anthony Stewart Head and Terrance Zdunich, which was negatively received by critics and a box office failure with only $188 126 grossed worldwide.
A famous singer, how rich is Sarah Brightman? According to sources, Sarah Brightman’s net worth is estimated to be $55 million. Undoubtedly, the majority of Sarah Brightman’s wealth comes from her singing career.
Sarah Brightman was born in 1960, in Hertfordshire, England. When she was thirteen years old, Brightman debuted in her very first musical entitled “I Am Albert”, which was held at the Piccadilly Theatre. Three years later she joined a dance troupe, “Hot Gossip”, with whom she recorded a hit song “I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper”. The hit single became Brightman’s first major success in the music industry with over 500 000 copies sold worldwide.
Brightman’s professional career on theatre stage began when she first appeared in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “Cats”. A talented singer, Brightman became Webber’s muse and inspired him to create some of the most known musicals, such as “Requiem”, “Song and Dance” and “The Phantom of the Opera”. The latter turned out to be Brightman’s ticket to fame.
Since the 1990s, Sarah Brightman is known more as a solo singer whose music is still highly appreciated nowadays. In 2000, Brightman released her second best-selling album after “Timeless”, which was entitled “La Luna”.
An award-winning soprano, Sarah Brightman has been working with some of the most famous people in the industry, including Tom Jones, Steve Barton, Bill Moseley, Antonio Banderas and many more. In 2012, Brightman was honored with the title of UNESCO Artist for Peace for her numerous contributions to charities, and prior to that she was given a title of Panasonic’s Global Brand Ambassador.

Sarah Brightman Quotes
- [observation, 2013] As I get older I become more imaginative, and feel like I have maybe a shorter time to get a lot of things going on in my mind done. I look at composers and conductors, anybody involved in music or writing or art in general; they got more done as they got older. If I can, I’ll be one of those people because what I do is my passion.
- [on the tentative intention of being part of a sub-orbital space mission in 2015] When I go through my albums there is always an area that uses the space aspect. It’s a life-long thing. I met a lot of people [in the field] and at some point was asked if I’d be interested in a deeper experience. At first I said, ‘No, I don’t dabble in things’. It’s not like packing for an overnight case..But then I was asked a second time and I felt psychologically ready to at least start training, see how I would fare.
- Right before I go on stage I’m absolutely terrified. My mind darts at many directions but the center of me is going forward into the performance.
- I live in a plane more or less.
- My fans want me with my hair.
- It really is strange the way I work for success but when I get there cannot appreciate it. I enjoy the road to success and the struggle – even when it becomes hard. But when I achieve my goal, I feel suddenly and totally stressed. Only in retrospect can I begin to enjoy the moment and admit just how great it was.
- When I sing, I close my eyes. If I see a feather, everything is fine. Without this image in my mind, the sound is not ‘truthful’ enough and I must begin again. I have to. I first had this feeling, this instinct, with ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, and since then have always listened to it.
- In the past, I always used to be looking for answers. Today, I know there are only questions. So I just live.
