So how much is Toksvig’s net worth? As of early 2018, based on authoritative sources it is reported to be $8 million, acquired from her years working in television and radio and as a touring comedian as well, which began in the early ‘80s.
Born in Copenhagen, Denmark, Toksvig is the daughter of Danish broadcaster, journalist and foreign correspondent Claus Toksvig, and Julie Anne Toksvig who is British. Because of her father’s occupation their family moved a lot when she was younger, traveling as far as New York City. She attended Tormead School near Guildford, and later on read law, archeology, and anthropology at Girton College, Cambridge from where she graduated with a first class degree.
Toksvig’s career in acting started right after graduating from college, appearing in productions at the Nottingham Playhouse and the Open Air Theater in Regent’s Park. Her first appearance on television was in 1982, when she appeared in the children’s series “No.73”. She stayed in the show for six years, which led her to other programs including the “Sandwich Quiz”, “Motormouth” and “Gilbert’s Fridge”. She also appeared in factual programs including “The Talking Show” and “Island Race.” Her early years in television helped jumpstart her career and also her net worth.
Later on, Toksvig was established more as a comedian, and began appearing in comedy shows including “Call My Bluff” as a team captain, “Have I Got News For You”, “QI”, and “Whose Line Is It Anyway”. She also made her way onto the radio waves in shows such as “The Unbelievable Truth”, “I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue”, and “The News Quiz.”
Aside from appearing in front of the camera, Toksvig has also done a lot of work behind the scenes. She has written a number of musicals and stage productions, including “Big Night Out at the Little Sands Picture Palace”, a deconstruction for Shakespeare’s “The Pocket Dream”, and also “Bully Boy.” She is a known author of books for both children and adults, having written over 20 books since 1994.
Later in her career, Toksvig also became known as a television presenter, which started in 2012 when she appeared in the show “1001 Things You Should Know”, later presenting “Fifteen-to-One” in 2014, and then taking over the show “QI” in 2016. Today, she is the newest co-presenter of the show “The Great British Bake Off” alongside Noel Fielding. Her careers on television, radio, and stage have all contributed in her net worth.
