Romero Britto was born on 6 October 1963, in Recife, Brazil, and is a Brazilian, painter, sculptor, serigrapher and neo-pop artist, whose works have been known for incorporating elements of cubism, pop art and graffiti.

So just how rich is Romero Britto? According to sources, Britto has gathered a net worth of over $6.75 million, as of early 2017 accumulated through his career in art which he began as a teenager.

Britto grew up in Recife with his eight siblings, living a quite modest lifestyle. His talents were revealed at an early age, when he began painting on scraps of any kind of paper he would find, filling it with vibrant color and images of the world surrounding him. He attended college as a pre-law student and planned to enroll at law school, however, his passion for art grew much stronger than his desire to study law and he eventually quit school and focused on art. In 1983 Britto headed to Paris, where he started to learn by examining the works of major names in art, such as Matisse and Picasso, combining their style with pop art to create his own iconic style. He went on to hold several exhibitions and private shows around Europe. His net worth began to grow.

Romero then decided to go to the USA, where pop art was blossoming at the time. He settled in Miami, Florida, and began creating pop art pieces, opening his own studio in Coconut Grove.

In 1989 Britto got a great opportunity to expand his reputation as a talented artist, when he was approached by Michel Roux, who offered him design work for the advertising campaign for Absolut Vodka, joining other artists such as Andy Warhol and Keith Haring. Working on the famed Absolute Art Ad Campaign paved Britto’s way to many other ad campaigns, such as for Evian, FIFA, Bentley, Audi, Pepsi and Walt Disney, not only boosting his popularity, but significantly adding to his net worth too.

Embracing the fame, Britto began showing his work, quickly collecting a great fan base. Inspired by cubism, pop art and graffiti, his pieces involve bold and vivid images, similar to that of Picasso, and yet totally modern at the same time, reflecting his optimistic view of the world around him. Additionally, he is also an avid portrait artist, and has created several series of postage stamp designs too. Britto eventually began sculpting, widening his followers, and increasing his wealth.

Today, his work is represented on five continents in over 100 galleries and museums, and has found its place in various corporate commissions and acclaimed art collections. His sculpture installations are placed across the globe as well, such as at the 02 Dome in Berlin, and John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. London’s Hyde Park hosts its largest monumental sculpture in history, created by Britto. Aside from serving as an official artist for the 2010 World Cup, he also served as Ambassador to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil and as an honorary torch bearer for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. His impressive resume of diverse artwork has enabled him to achieve a worldwide fame, becoming a modern day pop culture icon, and gathering an expansive fan base and a significant fortune.

Britoo has been involved in politics too; being a conservative, he held fundraising events for Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney and Jeb Bush.

Speaking of his personal life, Britto is married to Cheryl Britto, with whom he has one child.

The artist is a devoted philanthropist; aside from serving as an artistic activist for numerous charitable organizations around the world, including Best Buddies International, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and The Prince’s Trust, he has his own Britto Foundation, providing help to various individuals and organizations that need it.
