Rodrigo Santoro Wiki Biography

Born as Rodrigo Junqueira dos Reis Santoro on the 22nd August 1975 in Petrópolis, Rio de Janeiro Brazil, Rodrigo is a Cannes Film Festival Award-winning television and film actor, best known for his roles as Xerxes in the film “300” (2006) and its sequel “300: Rise of an Empire” (2014). Rodrigo also played in the series “Mulheres Apaixonadas” (2003) and the movie “Focus” (2015).

Have you ever wondered how rich Rodrigo Santoro is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Santoro’s net worth is as high as $10 million, an amount earned through his successful acting career, which started in 1993.

Rodrigo Santoro was the son of Francesco Santoro, an Italian engineer, and Maria José Junqueira dos Reis, a Brazilian artist. Rodrigo studied journalism at the PUC-Rio, while in 1993, he made his on-screen debut in an episode of the series called “Olho no Olho”.

He continued to play minor roles in Brazilian TV shows, and then in 1999 he had a part in the film “O Trapalhão e a Luz Azul”. In 2000, Santoro starred in Laís Bodanzky’s highly-rated drama “Brainstorm”, the story about a young man named Wilson Souza Neto, whose father sent him to a mental institution. A year later, Rodrigo played Tonho in Walter Salles’ Golden Globe Award- nominated drama called “Behind the Sun”, the plot involving family rivalry. In 2003, Santoro played alongside Brazilian superstar Wagner Moura in Hector Babenco’s “Carandiru”, and he finally made it abroad in Robert Allan Ackerman’s Golden Globe Award-nominated romantic drama “The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone” (2003) starring Helen Mirren, Olivier Martinez and Anne Bancroft, which increased his net worth to a large degree. Also in 2003, he had a minor part in “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle” with Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz, while he then appeared in Richard Curtis’ Golden Globe Award-nominated “Love Actually” (2003) starring Hugh Grant, Martine McCutcheon and Liam Neeson.

Back in his home country, Santoro played Diogo Nogueira in 203 episodes of the series called “Diogo Nogueira” (2003), while in 2006, he portrayed Xerxes in Zack Snyder’s blockbuster “300” alongside Gerard Butler, Lena Headey and David Wenham. Thanks to the film’s commercial success and over $450 million earned worldwide, Santoro’s net worth significantly increased.

From 2006 to 2007, Rodrigo played Paulo in 14 episodes of the Golden Globe Award-winning show “Lost”, and then by the end of the 2000s, Santoro played Raul Castro in both Steven Soderbergh’s “Che: Part One” (2008) and “Che: Part Two” (2008) starring Benicio Del Toro. Later, he portrayed Jimmy in “I Love You Phillip Morris” (2009) with Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor.

In 2012, Santoro played Paco Zarra in Philip Kaufman’s Golden Globe Award-nominated biography “Hemingway & Gellhorn” starring Nicole Kidman and Clive Owen. Two years later, Rodrigo again portrayed Xerxes, Themistokles’ greatest enemy in Noam Murro’s “300: Rise of an Empire”. The actor was quite busy in 2015, as it turned out to be lucrative for him, thanks to his role alongside Will Smith and Margot Robbie in “Focus”, and then starring with Antonio Banderas in the true story-based movie about Chilean miners who were trapped underground for 69 days called “The 33”.

Most recently, Santoro played in a biography “Pelé: Birth of a Legend” (2016), in Timur Bekmambetov’s remake of the “Ben-Hur” (2016), and as Hector Escaton in six episodes of a Golden Globe Award-nominated series “Westworld” (2016), so he is still certainly adding to his net worth.

Regarding his personal life, Rodrigo Santoro dated the model Ellen Jabour from 2004 to 2008, while his current girlfriend Mel Fronckowiak is expecting his child. Santoro’s favorite actors are Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
