Robert Swift Wiki Biography

Robert Swift was born on the 3rd December 1985 in Bakersfield, California USA, and is a professional basketball player who apparently is currently a free-agent, best known for playing center in the NBA for the Seattle Supersonics/Oklahoma City Thunder from 2004-2009. Swift also represented the Bakersfield Jam in 2009, the Seattle Aviators in 2010, the Snohomish County Explosion in 2010, and the Tokyo Apache from 2010 to 2011. His career started in 2004.

Have you ever wondered how rich Robert Swift is as of mid-2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Swift’s estimated net worth is just $5,000 an amount earned through his successful career as a pro basketball player, including playing in Japan.

Robert Swift was born to Bruce and Rhonda Swift and grew up in California, where he played basketball for Garces Memorial High School, and then starred at Bakersfield High School. Although he committed to play for the University of Southern California on a scholarship, Swift decided to go straight to the NBA, after the Seattle Supersonics selected him as the 12th pick overall in the 2004 NBA draft.

In his rookie season with the Sonics, Roberts played in only 16 games, averaging just 0.9 points, 0.4 rebounds, and 0.4 blocks in 4.5 minutes per game. His playing time increased in his second year, as he recorded 20 starts in 47 matches, averaging 6.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 21 minutes per game. Just when it was anticipated that Swift would become the Sonics starting center, he suffered a serious anterior crucial ligament injury and missed the entire season. Robert returned for the 2007-08 campaign, but appeared in only eight games, averaging 12.3 minutes per match. The following year, Swift played in 26 games for the (now) Oklahoma City Thunder and recorded 3.3 points and 3.4 rebounds per game before the Thunder released him in December 2009.

By the end of 2009, Swift had appeared in only two games for the NBA D-League team Bakersfield Jam, but was overweight and couldn’t play basketball at all. He then decided to leave his home country and move to Japan, where he joined the Tokyo Apache, managed by his former coach, Bob Hill. However, after only a season, the Apache disbanded their team and Robert went back to the US and had a trial with the Portland Trail Blazers. Although he drew interest from the Boston Celtics and New York Knicks, Swift failed to sign a contract and since then is apparently still a free agent.

Regarding his personal life, Robert Swift has plenty of financial problems and after his return from Japan, he was arrested for driving under the influence, and later found guilty of reckless driving. In 2013, Robert lost his home in Sammamish, Washington, while in 2014, he was charged with unlawful possession of a short-barreled shotgun. Most recently, Swift was arrested again, this time for an armed home invasion attempt in January 2015. Perhaps unsurprisingly, despite fathering a child in his teenage years, Swift remains single.
