Have you ever wondered how rich Scott Speedman is, as of late 2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Speedman’s net worth is as high as $3 million, an amount earned through his successful acting career.

Scott Speedman is a son of Roy Speedman, a department store buyer, and Mary Campbell, a primary school teacher and a champion athlete. They moved to Toronto, Ontario when Scott was four, and he went to the Earl Haig Secondary School where he competed in swimming, and was a member of the Canadian Junior National Swim Team, close to qualifying for the 1992 Summer Olympics, however, and injury to his neck forced him to to leave the sport. Speedman developed an interest in acting, so he enrolled at the University of Toronto, and then York University to work on his craft.

When “Batman Forever” (1995) was set to be filmed in Toronto, Scott auditioned for Robin, but that role eventually went to Chris O’Donnell. However, Scott realised that he could secure some parts if he hired an agent, which he did, and started his career in one episode of the series “Kung Fu: The Legend Continues” in 1995, and later appeared in five episodes of “Nancy Drew” (1995). His TV movie debut came in the sports-drama called “Net Worth” also in 1995, and Speedman continued to be a regular on television with roles in “Dead Silence” (1997), “What Happened to Bobby Earl?” (1997), and “Kitchen Party” (1997), certainly helping his net worth.

Speedman had his first significant role as Ben Covington, in 84 episodes of “Felicity” (1998-2002) and then played in “Duets” (2000) with Huey Lewis, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Paul Giamatti, and “Dark Blue” (2002) starring Kurt Russell and Ving Rhames. He continued with “My Life Without Me” (2003) with Sarah Polley and Mark Ruffalo, “Underworld” (2003) starring Kate Beckinsale, “The 24th Day” (2004), and “xXx: State of the Union” (2005) with Ice Cube, Samuel L. Jackson, and Willem Dafoe. His net worth was rising steadily.

Speedman played in “Underworld: Evolution” (2006) that grossed more than $110 million, “Weirdsville” (2007), “Anamorph” starring Willem Dafoe, “Adoration” (2008), and “The Strangers” (2008) with Liv Tyler. In the early 2010’s, Speedman had parts in “Barney’s Version” (2010) with Paul Giamatti and Rosamund Pike, “Good Neighbors” (2010), “Citizen Gangster” (2011), and “The Vow” (2012) starring Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, and Sam Neill. From 2012 to 2013, Scott had a role as XO Sam Kendal in 13 episodes of “Last Resort”, and later starred in “Barefoot” (2014) with Evan Rachel Wood and J.K. Simmons, and “The Captive” (2014) with Ryan Reynolds and Rosario Dawson. Most recently, Speedman played in “Out of the Dark” (2014) starring Julia Stiles and Stephen Rea, “October Gale” (2014) with Patricia Clarkson and Tim Roth, and is currently playing in series “Animal Kingdom” (2016- ).

Robert Scott Speedman Quotes

  • I can’t swim at the level I used to. I had to retire because of an injury to my shoulder.
  • If you don’t live a normal life, how do you relate to people?
  • I remember listening to Cube’s music when I was like 14 years old, my friends listening to it up in Toronto.
  • I’d rather not make films than make bad ones.
  • Duets is about six people, so it’s like three different movies – three different duets. I was on the set 18 days, spread out over three and a half or four weeks.
  • There’s such good writing now on television and I don’t see a lot of great writing on films sadly.
  • I don’t think I would be getting any of these movies without that show, and that’s a strong show, a great fan base and it’s helped me out a lot. It took me out of Canada and brought me down to the states and gave me my career basically.
  • Probably the most difficult things were my favorite parts. The make-up and the big fight sequence at the end of the movie were very difficult but really fun and challenging.
  • And once you cease to be a real person, you stop being a good actor.
  • Well, when I did Underworld 2, I was in Vancouver for five months and I was reminiscent to be back up there.
  • [on portraying bank-robber “Edwin Boyd” in Citizen Gangster (2011) (aka “Citizen Gangster”)] He would go in there and that really became his art. I really wanted to get that. That was the thing he was searching for, and he found it robbing banks. It wasn’t about the money. I think he tricked himself into thinking it was for his family, but it was really for him. It was a selfish endeavour. He wanted an edge in his life and he found it through this.
  • [on actors] What we really look for is something we haven’t done before and something that challenges us or creates a bit-of-a-fear moment when you’re reading it. Like ‘Oh Jeez, I don’t know if I can pull this off’. You always sorta can get there but it’s scary to jump off the edge.
  • I’m pretty picky about what I want to do.
  • It’s an interesting time that way. It’s hard to meet good girls down here. It seems like they’re all after something and interested in their own lives.
  • I’d like to do the young cadet thing again for sure, but that’s why I wanted to do this, to see if I could do it. I took the scenes out of the script and put them together and read them as one little arc, story and that seemed to work.
  • There’s nothing worse – I don’t like listening to actors talk about the process, especially when – I mean, for me I’ve played a lot of guys, dudes, boys in a sense and this was a challenge for me just to play that official character.
  • You’ve got to just go do what you do – you can’t really worry about who was attached to the movie before.
  • Sexy is a girl who’s comfortable with herself. Long legs are beautiful…and also a nice neck.
