Robert Knepper was raised in Maunmee, Ohio by his father, Donald Knepper, and his mother, the late Pat Deck. Owing to the fact that his mother was a member of a community theater, he showed interests in acting as a little child, later joining the theater and also being involved in high school productions during attending Maumee High School. Upon matriculation in 1977, he became a student of Drama at Northwestern University, but prior to completing his BA degree, he quit education, moved to New York City, and focused on pursuing his acting career, so he began to work in a theater.
Robert’s professional acting career on the screen began in 1986, when he appeared in a small role in the TV series “The Paper Chase”, and ever since then he has been active in the entertainment industry, appearing in over 120 film and TV titles, which represent the main source of his net worth. This role was soon followed not only with a number of small roles in such TV series and films as “Made In Heaven” (1987), “Star Trek: The Next Generation” (1987), and “Renegades”, but also with the role of George ‘Georgia’ Buckner/David Orcott in the TV series “L.A. Law” (1986-1993).
During the 1990s, his career intensified, which resulted in an increase of his net worth. He appeared in the role of Deputy Carlyle in the film “Young Guns II” (1990), playing Dr. Peter Roland in the TV series “E.A.R.T.H. Force” (1990), and as Dank in the film “Gas, Food Lodging” (1992). Two years later he was cast in the recurring role of Lt. Jimmy Creedmore in the film “When The Bough Breaks”, and in 1995 he featured in the film “Search And Destroy”, all of which added to his net worth.
The 2000s only changed the total amount of Robert’s wealth, as he appeared in a number of roles, including as Chris Stark in “Lady In The Box” (2001), as Special Agent Shue in “Thieves” (2001-2002), and playing Sean in “Presidio Med” (2002-2003). In 2005 his career reached a whole new level, as he was selected for the role of Theodore ‘T-Bag’ Bagwell in the successful FOX series “Prison Break” (2005-2009). This role was followed with a role in another TV series entitled “Heroes” (2009-2010).
By 2010, Robert was already an accomplished actor, and it was quite easy for him to find new engagements in the following years. He featured in “SGU Stargate Universe” (2010), and in 2012 he portrayed Frank Sinatra in the film “My Way”. The next year he starred in “Cult”, “R.I.P.D.”, and “Mob City”, increasing further his net worth.
Furthermore, he starred in such titles as “The Hunger Games” franchise, “Hawaii Five-0” (2014-2015), “Texas Rising” (2015), and “iZombie” (2016). Most recently, he has been featured in three films – “Frat Pack”, “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back”, and “Badsville”, which are scheduled for release in 2016. Robert Lyle Knepper Quotes
- (2009 – On quitting acting) Ten or fifteen years ago, Kiefer Sutherland used to go to the same gym as me. I remember telling him that I wanted to quit (acting). It was before Prison Break (2005) and I couldn’t find any work and I wanted to quit. He fucking punched me! He punched me so hard. He told me, ‘Don’t you ever give up!’ and I thank Kiefer every day for that advice.
- Loved it! I had never been to Bulgaria. It is so funny because years ago a CIA guy came down to the Actors Theater in Louisville, Kentucky. This was 1985. [Nicolae] Ceausescu [of Romania] was still alive. And he said that the only country worse than Romania is Bulgaria. And so here I am twenty-something years later, thinking: “Oh, no. This is going to be terrible”. It was so beautiful. The people are amazing. There’s a very European kind of feel to the whole city, and yet it is its own city and its own country. And they are just blossoming. It was just great. (On filming Hitman (2007) in Bulgaria).
