Robert Hays Wiki Biography

Robert Hays was born on 24 July 1947, in Bethesda, Maryland USA, and is an actor, best known for playing pilot Ted Striker in the film “Airplane!”, and Robert Seaver in the film “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey”.

So just how rich is Robert Hays at present? According to sources, Hays has earned a net worth of over $3 million, as of mid-2017, largely from his acting career which began in the mid-1970s.

Hays’ foray into acting started in San Diego’s local theater, to where he had move following matriculation, and he soon joined the Actor’s Guild at the famed Old Globe Theatre, where he had the chance to participate in several productions, such as playing Petruchio in a touring production of William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew”.

In the mid-’70s he began landing small TV roles, such as in the television series “The Rockford Files”, “Marcus Welby, M.D.” and “The Blue Knight”, as well as in a number of TV films; paving his way to recognition, his net worth started to rise.

In 1979 Hays got his first starring part, being cast as Brad Benson in the ABC sitcom “Angie”. The show gathered great popularity, significantly contributing to the actor’s fame in the acting world, and to his wealth as well.

Opportunities continued to come his way in the next decade – in 1980 he made his film debut, playing pilot Ted Striker in the satirical parody film “Airplane!”, also titled “Flying High!”; the film achieved great critical and commercial success, grossing over $83 million in North America against a budget of $3.5 million, which significantly improved Hays’ net worth. Aside from boosting his fortune, the role of Striker shot him to stardom. He reprized this role in the “Airplane II: The Sequel” two years later, and went on to land several other roles in the ’80s film scene, such as leading parts in the films “Trenchcoat”, “Utilities” and “Scandalous”, further elevating his net worth.

In 1986-1987 he starred as Paul Forrester in the TV science fiction series “Starman”, which he also directed, and then as Ted Costas in the series “FM” in 1989-1990. All added to his wealth.

The ’90s saw Hays starring as Joe Polachek in the NBC sitcom “Cutters”, and as Doug Kelly in the sitcom “Kelly Kelly”, also serving as a co-producer for the latter. He did some voice-over work during this time too, such as voicing Tony Stark / Iron Man in the animated series “Iron Man”, “The Incredible Hulk” and “Spider-Man”. His fortune grew larger.

As for the big screen, he starred in projects such as “Raw Justice”, “No Dessert Dad, ‘til You Mow the Lawn” and “Cyber Bandits”. Hays’ most notable film part, however, came in 1993, playing Bob Seaver in the adventure comedy “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey”, a remake of the 1963 film “The Incredible Journey”, which was based on Sheila Burnford’s same-titled novel. The role of Seaver reinforced his popularity, considerably increasing his net worth too.

Overall, Robert Hays has appeared in over 30 films, and more than 60 TV productions.

During the 2000s, Hays had recurring roles in TV series “That ’70 Show” and “Bette”, his most recent TV appearance being in the television film “Sharknado 2: The Second One”. His most recent film role was in the 2016 family drama “Boonville Redemption”.

In his private life, Hays was married to actress Cherie Currie from 1990 to 1997. The couple has one child together. Sources don’t have any information about his current relationship status.
