Robert Gallery Wiki Biography

Robert Gallery is an American former National Football League (NFL) player. He was born on the 26th of July 1980, in Manchester Iowa.

As of mid-2017, how rich is Robert Gallery? Sources estimate his net worth at $12 million, earned largely over his sporting career which spanned 2004 to 2012.

Gallery grew up on a farm, and so as a young boy he worked out in the fields. He played football, along with basketball and running track, at East Buchanan High school in Winthrop.

Gallery matriculated to the University of Iowa, where he played for the Iowa Hawkeyes between 1999 and 2003, following in the footsteps of his older brother. During his sophomore year, he helped to take the team to the bowl, whilst as a junior, he earned the “Hustle Award”. He was made co-captain of the school team in 2003 and was named first team All-American. Gallery graduated with a degree in education.

Gallery was selected second overall in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. “Sports Illustrated” had sung his praises, claiming him to be “the best lineman to come out of college in years”. He began as a right tackle, then moved to left tackle in 2006. He was initially labelled as “a bust”, and could not quite find his footing, ranking fourth overall for most sacks given up in 2006. A year later he was moved to left guard, a position in which he made some improvement, after which he is reported to have asked for a salary of $8 million a year, but was granted only $2.5 million.

Gallery’s last two seasons in particular for the Raiders were marred by frequent injury. In 2010, he was awarded the Ed Block Courage Award, in recognition of his effort on the field when returning to the game after suffering a badly broken leg.

In July of 2011, Gallery moved to the Seattle Seahawks, signing on for three years in a deal worth $15 million, a significant contribution to his overall wealth. He remained with the team for only one season, however, moving to the New England Patriots on the 19th of March 2012. He was signed under a one year contract for $1 million, with a $400,000 bonus for signing and other incentives for training. It was reported that he struggled in training due to injury, so that Gallery retired on the 4th of August in the same year. Over the course of his career, he started 102 games. His career has often been described as somewhat disappointing, considering his impressive performance at Iowa University.

In his personal life, Gallery lives in California with his wife Becca, a former professional basketball player for Iowa, and their three children. He enjoys restoring and working on classic cars.

In 2009, inspired by this passion, Gallery organised a charity event involving 300 classic cars which drove on a pre-planned rote around Dublin, California. The event raised in excess of $20,000 for the families of four Oakland area police officers who had recently been killed on duty.
