Robert Boyd Holbrook Wiki Biography

Robert Boyd Holbrook was born on 1 September1981, in Prestonburg, Kentucky USA, and is a fashion model and actor, best known for appearing in films such as “Milk”, “Run All Night”, and “Gone Girl”. He’s been active in the industry since 2001, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Boyd Holbrook? As of late-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $7 million, mostly earned through his successful career in acting. Other well-known roles he’s had include as DEA Agent Steve Murphy in the series “Narcos”, and as Donald Pierce in “Logan”. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.

While working as a part-time carpenter in Kentucky’s Jenny Wiley Theatre in 2001, Boyd was discovered, and signed for Elite Models and started working for various agencies. He’s modeled for high profile designers such as Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Hugo Boss and Gucci; his net worth started to increase with his popularity. He became a part of the gallery exhibition entitled “Omahyra & Boyd” which was a project by Ellen Von Unwerth – as the title denotes, Boyd worked with model Omahyra Mota. Later on, Boyd would release a series of poems through the website Model-Max.com.

Aside from modelling, Holbrook also forayed into acting. He studied under the Meisner Acting Program which is part of the William Esper Studio. He also did a two year voice and speech program with Shane Anne Younts, and afterwards he would receive a 16mm film SCPS Certificate from New York University. A few of his earliest roles included the music video “Allison” by Permanent Me, alongside Tiah Eckhardt. He then made his film debut in 2008’s “Milk” in which he played Denton Smith; the film is based on the life of politician Harvey Milk, the first openly gay person to be elected to public office in California.

More opportunities would open up for Holbrook, and his net worth increased further. In 2013, Boyd was cast in the film “The Host’ as Kyle O’Shea, based on the Stephenie Meyer novel of the same name, but it was poorly received by critics. The following year, he had a role in “A Walk Among the Tombstones” also based on a novel, co-starring Liam Neeson and Dan Stevens, which was a success financially, and Boyd would also appear in “Gone Girl” which was both a critical and commercial success; the film received numerous nominations including for Academy and Golden Globe Awards.

A few of his latest appearances include the Netflix series “Narcos”, which focuses on DEA agents as they battle drug kingpins and drug cartels. He also played Donald Pierce in the film “Logan” which stars Hugh Jackman – it is one of the best reviewed “X-Men” films that has ever been released, and is considered one of the best superhero films of all time.

For his personal life, it is known that Holbrook was engaged to actress Elizabeth Olsen in 2014 however, the relationship didn’t go any further. Boyd is still single.

Robert Boyd Holbrook Quotes

  • There are all kinds of directors I want to work with and all kinds of films that I want to do.
  • I wrote a lot. I was in programs for drawing when I was a kid.
  • I wanted to be an architect. I used to draw houses and buildings and construct buildings on my own.
  • Sean Penn, for his acting as well as his writing and directing. There are so many actors I respect, but his reach is so wide.
  • I’m country to the bone.
  • I was working in Lexington when I recognized this actor, Michael Shannon, and I was like, ‘What do you do?’ He told me to get into a theater company, so I got into a theater company near my hometown. I was a carpenter there. And then I slowly got some work.
  • Most difficult is the labeling by other people that models are empty-headed bodies. I think if you look for negativity, you can find it anywhere.
  • I sort of tried to get a basketball scholarship out of high school, but that didn’t happen. Then I started working for UPS, and that paid for tuition for school. I moved to a bigger town, Louisville. I did it for a year. I had to work the graveyard shift. And then you get off at eight for classes, so that sucked. Then I dropped out.
  • I unloaded planes for UPS in Louisville, Kentucky. It only was bad because it was called ‘Earn to Learn,’ where you pay for your tuition for college, but you have to work graveyard shift – midnight to eight A.M. – and then go to school at nine or 10 A.M. I was a zombie after two semesters.
  • When I got into high school, I got really into basketball. I had this itch that I wanted to just move. I didn’t know what I wanted to do, but I knew that if basketball became a scholarship or something, it would be a means to that. It turned out I couldn’t jump that high.
  • There was no theater in my high school. I think even our art program was cut – it was so bad. I didn’t even know that was a possibility in college or in high school; I hadn’t even thought of it. It was pretty negligent. My father has run a bulldozer all of his life, and my mom is in real estate.
