Rick Howard Wiki Biography

Rick Howard, born on the 31st August 1972, is a Canadian professional skateboarder and entrepreneur, who became better known through his companies Girl Skateboard, Four Star Clothing, Royal Trucks, Chocolate Skateboard and Lakai Limited Footwear. He is also credited as the inventor of the trick “fakie frontside big spin heelflip”, or the Rick Flip or Howard Heel.

So how much is Howard’s net worth? As of mid-2017, based on authoritative sources it is reported to be $45 million, acquired from his years as a professional skateboarder and the multiple companies that he started, owns and continues to run.

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, as a teenager Howard moved to California, and started his career as a skateboarder – as early as seventeen, he was already skating for Blockhead Skateboards and Gullwing Trucks – during this time, he was also given professional status.

In 1991, Howard moved to Plan B Skateboards and left Gullwing Trucks for Independent Trucks. While skating for Plan B, he also starred in several videos showing off his tricks. One of the most famous videos of him was “Virtual Reality”, in which he showed his advancement of “switch-stance” skating. It was in the video that he first showed the trick, and took the skating world by storm. His career as a skateboarder and his sponsors all helped his net worth.

Howard decided to leave Plan B in 1993, and started his own company – Girl Skateboards – with Spike Jonze, Megan Baltimore and Mike Carroll. He also started a footwear line with Mike Carroll, named Lakai Limited Footwear. He started the footwear line after leaving DC Shoes and they created their own style of shoes that are manufactured with a cup sole instead of a vulcanized one. Soon his company turned into Crailtap Distribution Company, that also handles Four Star Clothing, Chocolate Skateboards, and Royal Trucks. His various companies and their successes have tremendously helped his wealth.

Along with the success of his companies, Howard also received accolades for his feature film that he created. In 2007, he produced and appeared in “Fully Flared”, a 90-minute film featuring various skateboarders. The film received the Skateboard magazine Best Video of the Year and The Transworld Skateboarding Best Video of the Year Awards as well.

Today, Howard is still active in skateboarding. Aside from being an icon, he is also credited with having created the “fakie frontside big spin heelflip” trick that became known as the Rick Flip or the Howard Heel.

He is also sponsored by various companies, which has also helped his net worth. These companies are Spitfire, Glassy Sunhaters, Diamond Supply Co., and his own Girl Fourstar Clothing, Independent Trucks, and Lakai Limited Footwear, quite a CV of sponsors.

In terms of his personal life, Howard prefers to keep it private, and nothing is known about his private affairs.
