Richard Lee Petty, also known by his nickname “The King”, was born on 2 July 1937, in Level Cross, North Carolina USA. Richard is one of the greatest NASCAR drivers of all time, known particularly for winning the NASCAR championship seven times, a feat achieved by only one other driver (Dale Earnhardt) and also for achieving many other titles and awards. Petty is considered to be one of the best drivers of all time and the long list of his achievements only proves this fact.
