An actress who dominated Hollywood at her career peak, how rich is Rene Russo at the present? As of 2015, Rene has a net worth estimated by sources to be over of $40 million, her acting career being the major source of her wealth. Also, her film-making and modelling career has also helped her add to her riches.
Rene was raised by her mother as her father left the family when Rene was only two years old. She has never graduated high school, as she dropped out of Burroughs High School while she was attending tenth grade. Shortly after, when she was seventeen, Rene began her modelling career, as she signed a contract with the Ford Modelling agency in 1972. Given her beauty and hard work, it did not take long for her to become a very popular model at that time. During her modelling career, she appeared on the covers of many reputable magazines such as Cosmopolitan, Vogue among others.
After enjoying around fifteen years of success in her modeling career being a top model of late 70s and 80s, but fearing demand for models of her age was waning, Rene took a leap in her career and started acting. Her debut was a supporting role in the television series “Sable” but her breakthrough appearance was her role as detective Lorna Cole in the movie “Lethal Weapon 3” in 1992, closely followed in 1993 by “In the Line of Fire” with Clint Eastwood. Given the widespread exposure from her modelling career and her performances in such movies, she went on to dominate Hollywood as an actress.
To date, Rene has been a part of around twenty-four Hollywood movies which include “Thor”, “Nightcrawler”, “The Thomas Crown Affair”, “Get Shorty” among many more. Rene took a six years break from her acting career from 2005 and made a comeback with the movie “Thor” in 2011. Her latest appearance was with Robert De Niro in “The Intern” in 2015, and “Frank and Cindy” released in 2016.
During her acting career, she has been rewarded with Saturn award for best supporting actress, a nomination for BAFTA awards and many more. This sixty-one years old actress is still very prominent in the movie industry. All of these movies and projects have been avidly helping Rene raise her net worth over the years.
As for her personal life, in 1992 Rene married Dan Gilroy, a famous screenwriter, and they have a daughter. Rene and her family currently live in Brentwood, Los Angeles where she engages herself with her acting. Rene suffers from Bipolar disorder.

Rene Marie Russo Quotes
- [regarding the table read for The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle (2000)] “I walked in the door and there was June Foray. She did the original voice of Natasha and I thought, ‘Oh good, they have June here to make me look like an idiot.’ I asked June if she could read a couple of lines for me, and she did, she was so gracious. So I got the accent down, the Russian accent, for which I lowered my voice.”
- Beauty and youth can stay inside, but it doesn’t outside.
- That’s a really good question – what is it like living with a writer? I guess it depends on the writer. You know what? They live in a fantasy world a lot of the time. My husband lives in a fantasy world. It’s really hard for him to be in the world, because if his head isn’t in a script, I guess to write what he does, he has to sort of twist the world a little bit and live in a fantasy. And I think he doesn’t live in reality – in my reality, let’s put it that way. He’s much more “Everything’s fine fine fine and everything’s good good good,” and I’m like, “What, are you nuts? Everything’s rotten and sucks.”
- All of us are broken – some of us more than others. It might be a nurturing, mother thing. I do think there is that, “Oh my God, you’re hurting. I know what that feels like and I’d like to be there and support you in that.”
- On her nude scenes in The Thomas Crown Affair (1999): “It never really dawned on me that, gee, I’m 45 and I’m taking off my clothes. For me it was a matter of living inside the character.”
