Regis Francis Xavier Philbin, commonly known as Regis Philbin, is a famous American actor, voice actor, television personality, talk show host, as well as a singer. Ever since the beginning of his career as a talk show host in 1964, when he started hosting “The Steve Allen Show”, Regis Philbin has been referred to as the “hardest working man” in the industry. Philbin spent more than 15 000 hours in front of the cameras, which secured him a position in the Guinness Book of Records for “Most Hours on Camera”. Throughout his lengthy career on television, Regis Philbin has been a part of many television projects, yet he is perhaps best known as the host of a talk show called “Live! with Regis”.
The show first aired on television screens in 1988 under the name of “Live with Regis and Kathie Lee”, yet in 2000, due to a lot of public criticism, Kathie Lee was forced to leave the show. For a brief moment after Lee’s departure, Philbin worked with many co-hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Philbin, Rosie O’Donnell and Caroline Rhea. Eventually, Kelly Ripa filled in for the position of Philbin’s co-host, and since 2001 the show began to be called “Live! with Regis and Kelly”. With Ripa’s arrival, the show gained even more popularity amongst its young audience and maintained a high average until Philbin’s departure in 2011. During his time with the show, Regis Philbin had an opportunity to interview some of the most famous people in the industry, such as Donald Trump, Adam Sandler, Joe Biden, David Letterman, Liam Neeson and many others. A popular talk show host, how rich is Regis Philbin? Regis Philbin was born in 1931, in New York, US. Philbin studied at the “Our Lady of Solace” school and then continued his studies at the Cardinal Hayes High School. After graduating from high school, Regis Philbin enrolled in the University of Notre Dame. Prior to becoming famous in the entertainment industry, Philbin used to do a lot of work behind the scenes on television, as well as radio. Philbin’s major breakthrough came in 1967, when he joined Joey Bishop on the talk show called “The Joey Bishop Show”. Before launching his own popular series, Regis Philbin went on to appear in “The Morning Show”, “A. M. Los Angeles”, and other short-lived series on NBC. With the release of “Live! with Regis”, Philbin became a well-recognized face in the industry, which landed him many job opportunities. In addition to his own talk show, Philbin went on to host “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire” game show, which earned him a Daytime Emmy Award. Regis Philbin then made appearances on “How I Met Your Mother” with Josh Radnor, Alyson Hannigan and Neil Patrick Harris, “Seinfeld” created by Jerry Seinfeld, “Late Show with David Letterman”, “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” with Will Smith and other television projects.
