Have you ever wondered how rich Ray Evernham is, as of mid-2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Evernham’s net worth is $30 million. In addition to owning the racing team, and being an analyst and consultant, Evernham was also a race driver, and it also improved his wealth.
Ray started his racing career when he was 26 years old, and also worked with the International Race of Champions as a chassis specialist. Ray doesn’t remember the accident very well, but it forced him to end his career as a driver.
He worked with NASCAR driver Alan Kulwicki in 1991, but left the post after a few weeks due to entirely different personalities. In 1992, Ray started his collaboration with Jeff Gordon who was a Ford driver at the time, and he was the Hendrick Motorsports crew chief from 1992 to 1999. Together with Gordon, Evernham won 47 Cup races, three Cup championships (1995, 1997, and 1998), such that their domination of NASCAR was evident during the ’90’s. The big success in NASCAR racing generated millions into Ray’s bank account, as he became one of the richest personalities in the sport.
Ray left Hendrick Motorsports in 1999, and started his racing team called Evernham Motorsports. The team had its debut in the Winston Cup Series in 2000 and later took part in the Sprint Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Craftsman Truck Series. Patrick Carpentier, Bill Elliott, Elliott Sadler, Casey Atwood, Jeremy Mayfield, Erin Crocker, Kasey Kahne and Chase Miller have been the drivers of Evernham’s team. George N. Gillett, Jr purchased the majority of shares of the team in 2007, but Evernham sued him in 2011 because Gillett failed to fulfill his co-owner duties, and the suit was settled in 2012 outside the court for an undisclosed fee.
Ray Evernham also worked as an analyst, covering NASCAR for ESPN/ABC in 2000, from 2008 to 2010, and from 2012 to 2013.
