Quincy Jones Wiki Biography
Quincy Delight Jones Jr., commonly known as Quincy Jones, is a famous American film score composer, music arranger, record producer, film and television producer, as well as a magazine founder. Quincy Jones rose to fame in 1960s, when he created music for a 1965 film called “The Slender Thread”, starring Sidney Poitier and Anne Bancroft. After that, Quincy Jones started receiving more offers to compose film scores, and he eventually produced music for “The Getaway” with Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw, “Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice” starring Natalie Wood, and “The Italian Job” to name a few. Around the same time, Quincy Jones also worked with such artists as Frank Sinatra, Billy Eckstine, Peggy Lee and others, and started to already make a name for himself. Even though Jones is widely recognized as a record producer, he is also popular for his solo work. In 1962, he released a studio album under the name of “Big Bad Bossa Nova”, which featured a famous song “Soul Bossa Nova”, which was used as a theme song for the series of “Austin Powers” films with Mike Myers. Quincy Jones is also known for his work with Michael Jackson, for whom he helped co-produce such popular albums as “Thriller”, which is considered to be among the greatest albums of all time, and “Off the Wall”, which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. An award-winning record producer, as well as an inductee into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, how rich is Quincy Jones? The sources state that Quincy Jones’ net worth is estimated to be $350 million. Most of Quincy Jones’ net worth and salary comes from his involvement in the music industry.
Born in 1933, in Chicago, Illinois, Quincy Jones moved a lot during his teenage years, and was initially located in Bremerton, where he studied at the Garfield High School, but later moved out to Seattle, where he enrolled in the Seattle University. In the university, Jones met Clint Eastwood with whom he planned to join a college band. However, Jones quit the university and went on to study at the Berklee College of Music instead. Quincy Jones did not graduate from the college either, as he quit in order to tour with a famous percussionist and pianist Lionel Hampton. Around the same time, he started working on songs for such artists as Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, Ray Charles and others. When Quincy Jones achieved mainstream success as a film score composer, he started to be given more job opportunities from well-known people in the industry.
