Peter Engelhardt Wiki Biography

Peter Engel was born in 1936, and is an American Primetime Emmy Award-nominated television producer, best known to the world for creating several teenage sitcoms aired on Teen NBC channel. Some of the sitcoms include “Saved by the Bell” (1989-1992), and its spin-off “Saved by the Bell: The College Years” (1993-1994), among other creations.

Have you ever wondered how rich Peter Engel is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Engel’s net worth is as high as $50 million, an amount earned through his successful career in the entertainment industry, which has been active since the mid- ‘70s.

Little is known about Peter’s life before his career in the entertainment world started; some of his earliest works include such TV series as “Sirota’s Court”, on which he worked as a producer from 1976 to 1977. Before he was recruited by NBC, he worked closely with Pat Robertson on his Christian Broadcasting Network for twenty years. In the first place, he didn’t want to join NBC, but on the suggestion of his wife, he accepted the offer and started producing sitcoms for children aged 10 to 14 – his first work was the family comedy “Good Morning Miss Bliss” (1987-1989), starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Hayley Mills and Dustin Diamond, after which he produced one of his most prominent sitcoms, “Saved by the Bell” (1989-1992), again with Gosselaar and Diamond in lead roles with the addition of Mario Lopez. The show became extremely popular which resulted in several spin-offs, including “Saved by the Bell: The College Years” (1993-1994), and “Saved by the Bell: The New Class” (1993-2000), all of which increased his wealth to a large degree.

Peter continued quite successfully throughout the ‘90s with such shows as “California Dreams” (1992-1996), “Hang Time” (1995-2000), “USA High” (1997-1999), “City Guys” (1997-2001) and “One World” (1998-2001), among others, further increasing his wealth. With the start of the 2000s, Peter changed his focus to reality competition shows, and from 2004 produced the highly popular show “Last Comic Standing” (2004-2014), for which he received an Primetime Emmy Award nomination in the category Outstanding Reality-Competition Program.

Also, he served as the executive producer for the reality series “Chasing the Saturdays” (2013) aired on the E! Network.

Peter is also an author, publishing the memoir “I Was Saved by the Bell: Stories of Life, Love, and Dreams That Do Come True” in 2016, the sales of which also contributed to his wealth.

Regarding his personal life, Peter has been married to Connie Chapman since 1981; the couple has two children together. Previously, he was married to Chris Phillips (1968-1972), and Linda Carbonetto (1974-1977), with whom he had one child before their divorce.
