Perry King Wiki Biography

Perry Firestone King was born on the 30th April 1948, in Alliance, Ohio USA, and is an actor best known to the world as Cody Allen in the TV series “Riptide” (1984-1986), among many other differing appearances. His career started in the early ‘70s.

Have you ever wondered how rich Perry King is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that King’s net worth is as high as $8 million, an amount earned through his successful career in the entertainment industry.

Perry is the descendant of Roger Sherman, one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. His great-great-grandfather is U.S. Senator William M. Evarts, while his maternal grandfather was Maxwell Perkins, one of the editors of the publishing house Charles Scribner’s Sons.

After finished high school, Perry enrolled at Yale University, from which he obtained a degree in drama, while he also attended Julliard.

Perry’s career started with a role in the film “Slaughterhouse-Five” (1972), and the same year starred in the horror thriller “The Possession of Joel Delaney” (1972), with Shirley MacLaine and David Elliott, and then in 1975 appeared as Hammond Maxwell in the historic drama “Mandingo”, starring James Mason and Susan George. He started the ‘80s with a supporting role in the film “The Hasty Heart” (1983), for which he received a nomination for Golden Globe Award Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television, then had the lead role in the film “Class of 1984” (1982), before in the same year being selected to play detective Cody Allen in the TV series “Riptide”, a role which garnered him mass popularity, and also increased his net worth to a large degree. Before the ‘80s ended, Perry featured in such films as “Stranded” (1986), “Shakedown on the Sunset Strip” (1988), and “Disaster at Silo 7” (1988).

Perry began the ‘90s with roles in films made for television, such as “The Knife and Gun” (1990), and “Switch” (1991), which continued into the second half of the decade, with films “Hijacked: Flight 285” (1996), among many others, which only increased his net worth. He started the new millennium with a role in the TV series “Titans” (2000), and then in 2001 starred in the film “The Perfect Wife”. Three years later, Perry portrayed President Blake in the sci-fi action drama “The Day After Tomorrow”, with Dennis Quaid, Emmy Rossum and Jake Gyllenhaal. From then, Perry’s career began to decline somewhat, and he landed roles in several low budget films, which aren’t even noteworthy. Most recently, he was selected to portray Sam Kincaid in the western “The Divide”, which is scheduled for release late in 2017.

Regarding his personal life, Perry has two daughters from his two marriages. His first wife was Karen Elizabeth Hryharrow; the couple was married from 1968 until 1979. His second wife was Jamie Elvidge; the couple married in 1990 but eventually divorced.

Perry is an avid motorcyclist, and since 2008 has served on Board of Directors of AMA. He has also appeared on “California’s Gold” by Huell Howser on KCET TV, speaking about his motorcycles and sidecars collection.
