Paul Oakenfold Wiki Biography
Paul Mark Oakenfold, born on the 30th of August 1963, is an English disc jockey and record producer who became famous for his works with artists including U2 and Madonna, and for headlining his own tours around the world.
So how much is Oakenfold’s net worth? As of early 2017, based on authoritative sources it is estimated to be $65 million, acquired from his years of working as a DJ, sales of his albums, and his various collaborations with other artists.
Born in Greenhithe, Kent, England, Oakenfold’s career started at an early age. His original plan was to become a chef, but upon visiting Manhattan in the early ‘80s, he opted for a different career. He lived near Studio 54, a popular club in New York wherein only popular people are allowedentry. He managed to get in the club using fake IDs and was able to make connections with important people.
The connection Oakenfold formed back in Studio 54 led him to work in Champion Records as an A&R man, and later on as a promoter and British agent all while playing in various clubs as a DJ. His various jobs started his career in music and also helped start his net worth.
His career took a different turn when he introduced a different music genre into London in 1987. After a vacation at Ibiza in Spain, the music that he enjoyed in the country led him to bring it to the clubs in London. He convinced a venue owner in England to host an after-hours party featuring his music inspired by the sounds of Ibiza. At first the people didn’t appreciate his sound, but soon his party became known as the “Spectrum at Heaven in Charing Cross”. People keep pouring in and soon they needed a larger venue. Oakenfold opened his own club and played for people even on Mondays.
His popularity in the club scene led him to another career: producing music. He went by the name Electra and created Perfecto Records, where he partnered with other artists to mix new music. Oakenfold’s career as a music producer led him to work with various artists like Happy Mondays and Massive Attacks. His works as a producer also helped tremendously with his career and wealth.
During the 1990s Oakenfold began touring and performing around the world. One of his early tours included playing with the band U2 in 1992. While still working with other artists, he also started producing mix CD’s of his own performances; some of his early mixes included “Goa Mix”, “A Voyage in to the Trance”, and “Perfecto Fluoro”. His various works and mixes also led him to win the DJmag’s Top 100 DJs, taking home the top spot for two consecutive years in 1998 and 1999.
In 1999, Oakenfold moved to the United States and brought his music to various tours and festivals. During the 2000’s he also started releasing studio albums like “Bunkka” in 2002 and “A Lively Mind” in 2006.
Today Oakenfold is still active in touring and creating music with “Trance Mission” and “Pop Killer” as some of his most recent studio albums. He is also now heading the department of DJs, EDM vocalists, and producers at Isina, a renowned mentorship program for new artists.
As to his personal life – Paul keeps in very private, so there are not even any rumours of any relationship.
