Patrick Simmons Wiki Biography
Patrick Simmons was born on the 19th October 1948, in Aberdeen, Washington State USA, and is a singer, songwriter and guitarist, best known to the world as one of the original Doobie Brothers, a rock band that became popular in the ‘70s. As a part of The Doobie Brothers, Tom was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2004.
Have you ever wondered how rich Patrick Simmons is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Simmons’ net worth is as high as $10 million, an amount earned through his successful career in the music industry, which started in 1970. In addition to being a member of The Doobie Brothers, Patrick has also released a couple albums as a solo artist, which also improved his wealth.
Although born in Aberdeen, Patrick spent his childhood in San Jose, California, due to his father’s position as a high school educator at the local school. After finishing high school, Patrick enrolled at San Jose State University, and lived in Santa Cruz for quite some time, before embarking on a music career.
He joined the band called Pud, which comprised John Hartman, Tom Johnston and Dave Shogren. They changed the name to The Doobie Brothers and signed a recording contract with the Warner Brothers in 1970, and their first self-titled album came out in 1971, but only reached No. 210 on the Billboard chart. Nevertheless, they continued to make music, and with the collaboration of Tom and Patrick on lyrics, they made an improvement, as their second album “Toulouse Street”, reached No. 21 on the Billboard 200 chart, and achieved platinum status in the US, which only increased Simmons’ net worth.
The band continued successfully until the late ‘70s, but had a major change in the line-up. In 1975, Tom Johnston left the band due to health issues, and was replaced by Michael McDonald. That change didn’t effect on their success, as albums such as “Takin’ It to the Streets” (1976), “Livin’ on the Fault Line” (1977), and “Minute by Minute”, all achieved gold and platinum status, with “Minute by Minute” topping the Billboard 200 chart. In 1982, Patrick, being the only original remaining member, dismissed the group and embarked on a solo career. Five years later, The Doobie Brothers reunited in the original line up, and since then have released five more albums, including “Cycles” (1989), “Brotherhood” (1991), “Sibling Rivalry” (2000), and “Southbound” (2014), the sales of which further increased Patrick’s net worth.
Aside from The Doobie Brothers, Patrick released solo albums “Arcade” in 1983 and “Take Me to the Highway” (1995), the sales of which also added to his net worth.
Regarding his personal life, Patrick has been married to Cris Sommer since 1990, with whom he has three children. He and his wife are vintage motorcycles enthusiasts, and have participated in the 2014 Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Ride and in the 2016 Motorcycle Cannonball too.
