Patricia Carola Velasquez Semprun was born on 31 January 1971, in Maracaibo, Venezuela, of Venezuelan and Wayuu descent. Patricia is a fashion model and actress, best known to be considered the first Native American supermodel. She’s appeared in numerous fashion shows for high profile designers, and also appeared in various films. All of her efforts have helped put her net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Patricia Velasquez? As of mid-2017, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $800,000, mostly earned through a successful career in modelling and acting. One of her most notable roles was in the 1999 film “The Mummy”, and then in its sequel “The Mummy Returns”. As she continues her career, it is expected that her wealth will also continue to increase.

Patricia spent a lot of time in France and Mexico during her youth, as her father was working for UNESCO. She attended San Vicente de Paul High School and matriculated in 1987. Two years later, she participated in the Miss Venezuela pageant and would be 2nd runner up. She then attended college for three years, before moving to Milan, Italy to pursue a modelling career.

In 1997, Velasquez moved to the United States to study acting in Los Angeles and New York. The following year she would become part of various fashion shows, appearing on runways for designers such as Dolce & Gabbana, Bella Freud, and Claude Montana. Her net worth started to increase significantly, and she appeared in ads for Chanel as well as Victoria’s Secret. She also appeared in several issues of “Sports Illustrated” which earned more modelling engagements.

In 1999, Patricia was cast in the film “The Mummy” playing Anck-Su-Namun, the film starring Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz. It became box office success and led to a sequel two years later entitled “The Mummy Returns”, in which Velasquez also reprised her role. She also appeared in the musical video of “Breaking the Girl” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

In 2008, she appeared in the fifth season of “The L Word” playing the character Begona. She also had a recurring role in the series “Arrested Development” in which she played Marta Estrella, and made a guest appearance in an episode of “From the Grave”. This then led her to have a recurring role in the first season of “Rescue Me”, before guest starring in “Ugly Betty”. All of these opportunities increased her net worth further.

In 2012, she participated in the 12th season of “The Apprentice” on behalf of the charity Wayuu Taya Foundation; she was eliminated from the show in week six.

For her personal life, it is known that Patricia has a daughter with ex-girlfriend Lauren. They were in a relationship for eight years. In 2015, she released a memoir entitled “Straight Walk” which discussed how she discovered she was a lesbian with her relationship with Sandra Bernhard. She is the world’s first open lesbian Latina supermodel. Velasquez is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and French. She also founded the Wayuu Taya foundation which aims to help the indigenous group Wayuu, and participated in raising money for victims of the Haiti earthquake.
