Olga Teresa Tañón Wiki Biography

Olga Teresa Tañón Ortíz was born on the 13th April 1967, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, and is a singer, probably best recognized for being a part of one of the most successful and famous Latin American groups of all time – Chantelle – and the lead singer of their hit song “Aunque Tú No Quieras”. She is also known for her solo career and the hit song “Basta Ya”. Her career has been active since 1987.

So, have you ever wondered how rich Olga Tañón is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Olga’s net worth is over $10 million, accumulated through her successful involvement in the music industry both as a part of several popular groups and as a solo artist. Another source of her wealth is from appearing in a couple of films in minor roles, and doing soundtracks for several films and video games.

Olga hails from a middle-class family as the youngest of four children raised by her father, José Tañón, and her mother, Carmen Gloria Ortíz. She attended primary and secondary school in the Levittown district of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico.

She was obsessed with music from an early age, and listened to American pop, even though she didn’t understand the meaning of the songs because she didn’t know the language. However, while still in high school, she auditioned for Las Nenas de Ringo y Jossie, a somewhat popular merengue band. As she showed great talent, Olga was invited into the group, which marked the beginning of an increase of her net worth.

After leaving the group, she joined a more famous Latin American band called Chantelle, and they had their biggest hit – “Aunque Tú No Quieras” – while she was singing for them, which added a considerable amount to her net worth.

However, in that period Olga was noticed by the record company WEA Latina and they offered her a contract in 1992. As a result of their collaboration, she started a career as a solo artist, and released her debut studio album “Sola”, consisted of her composing debut song entitled “Presencié Tu Amor”, and other songs such as “Quiero Estar Contigo”, and “Me Cambio Por Ella”, increasing further her wealth.

In the next several years Olga released an album a year, with several platinum records and experimented with combining other styles, such as salsa with merengue, increasing her net worth by a large margin. With her album “Nuevos Senderos”, she became internationally popular, the first Puerto Rican to sell over 500,000 records. This album contained Olga’s greatest hit “Basta Ya!”, which became her first single No. 1, as well as the number one in the Top Latin Tracks.

To talk further about her career, in 2000 Olga recorded the concert “Olga Viva…Viva Olga” which was labeled as one of the top 20 records of the year by the National Foundation of Popular Culture. In the following years, she released a few more albums and toured a lot of countries both in USA and Europe. Most recently, she released the album “Una Mujer” in 2013, and her latest album “Olga Tañón… Y Punto!” will be released in 2017. Her net worth is certainly rising.

Thanks to her accomplishment in the music industry, Olga is one of the most awarded Puerto Rican singers of all time, winning several significant awards, including two Grammy Awards, three Latin Grammy Awards, and 29 Premio Lo Nuestro Awards.

If to talk about her personal life, Olga Tañón has been married to Billy Denizard since 2002; the couple has two children. Previously, she was married to Juan Gonzalez (1998-2000), with whom she has one child. In free time, Olga is known as a humanitarian and social activist.
