O. J. Simpson Wiki Biography
Orenthal James Simpson was born on July 9, 1947, in San Francisco, California USA and is a former American Football running back, but is best known to the world as the prime suspect for the `Trial of the century` or the `O.J Simpson Murder Case`, for killing his former wife and her friend.
Have you ever wondered how rich O.J Simpson is, as late of 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Simpson’s net worth is $3 Million, which he receives from the pension.
Orenthal James Simpson is the son of Eunice and Jimmy Lee Simpson, who was a chef and a custodian. His father was a well-known drag queen and later came out as gay. His mother in Potrero Hill district brought him up along with his one brother and two sisters. In his teens, he joined a gang called Persian Warriors.
He went to Galileo High School and played for their team called Galileo Lions for a short time. After high school. O.J. attended City College of San Francisco for a year and played in their football team. More than fifty colleges wanted to recruit him and he selected ‘University of Southern California’ and he attended the college on athletic scholarship and played running back. He received the Heisman Trophy, the Walter Camp Award and Maxwell Award in 1968.
His career started after the Buffalo Bills drafted him as the first pick overall in 1969. He was nicknamed as ‘the juice’ and the sports magazine named him Man of the Year. In his rookie season, Simpson scored two rushing touchdowns, and three as a receiver, which earned him a place in the AFL All-Star. He remained with the Bills until 1977, during which time he posted a number of records, and won numerous accolades. He became the first player ever to cover over 2000 yards in a season in 1973. Because of his amazing performance during the same year, he was given as the title of NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. The highlights of his career include winning 4 NFL Rushing titles and Named All-Pro between 1972-1976. He received the title of NFL Rushing touchdown leader in 1973 and 1975. In 1977, he suffered an injury and his season was cut short. He played for ‘San Francisco 49ers’ after being traded by the ‘Buffalo Bills’. He was receiving the salary of $ 806,688 when he retired in 1979 due to a damaged knee and was the highest paid football player of that time. He also tried his skills as a commentator of ‘The NFL on NBC’ and ‘Monday Night Football’. His endorsement deals included working with products such as ‘Pioneer Chicken’, ‘Hertz’ rental Car Company and ‘Honey-Baked Ham’ as well as a $250,000 deal of three years with Chevrolet. All of these deals added a considerable amount to O.J.’s net worth.
Following his retirement, he focused on acting, and had several notable appearances such as Nordberg in “The Naked Gun” film franchise, while in 1992 he was Det. Nick Murphy in the film “CIA Code Name: Alexa”, and Allie Wheeler in the film “No Place To Hide”, also in 1992, which also contributed to his wealth.
Regarding his personal life, on June 24, 1967, Simpson married Marguerite L. Whitley. They had three children together. In 1979, he met Nicole Brown and he started dating her while still being married. He divorced Marguerite and married Nicole on February 2, 1985. This marriage lasted seven years and they had two kids together. On June 12, 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman were found murdered in Nicole’s house and Simpson was the prime suspect. On June 17, he was involved in a low-speed pursuit, which was broadcasted on many TV stations. This pursuit, arrest, and trial were one of the most famous and known incidents of the American history. On October 3, 1995, the jury gave the verdict of ‘not guilty’ for the two murders. A poll was conducted on this in 2016, and according to that 83% of white Americans and 57% of black Americans believe Simpson was guilty of the murder trails.
However, since then, Simpson faced other legal problems and eventually spent nine years in prison on charges of armed robbery and kidnapping, after he and several of his collaborators entered a room at the Palace Station hotel-casino and with them took sports memorabilia and threatened people with guns.
