He has a losing record, but has the most wins in the NFL as a head coach with a negative record.

Have you ever wondered how rich Norv Turner is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Turner’s net worth is as high as $10 million, earned through his successful career in the NFL, which has been active since the ‘80s.

Turner went to Alhambra High School in Martinez, California, where he started playing football. He was used as a quarterback until his matriculation in 1970, but didn’t have much success, after which Norv enrolled at the University of Oregon in Eugene, where he continued his football career, also as a quarterback, but didn’t see much playing time as the starting quarterback was the future hall of famer Dan Fouts. In the last two years of his college career, Norv’s playing time increased, however, he still didn’t have much success.

After graduation, Norv started his coaching career, and became graduate assistant coach at Oregon in 1975. The following year he was hired as wide receivers coach at USC, a position he held until 1979, when he was appointed as defensive backs coach at USC, only to become quarterbacks coach in 1981. He stayed at USC until 1985, in 1984 serving as offensive coordinator of the team. After successful seasons at the USC, Norv was called up by John Robinson to join him at Los Angeles Rams of the NFL. Norv accepted the offer and ever since has been in the NFL. He served as Los Angeles Rams wide receivers head coach, which gave him much needed experience for further endeavors.

After the Rams, Norv became offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys in 1991, and together with Jimmy Johnson, won back to back Super Bowls in 1992 and 1993, both times defeating the Buffalo Bills. When he was hired by the Dallas Cowboys, the team had one of the worst offenses in the league, but Norv turned it around, and made Dallas one of the best offensive teams in the league.

Then in 1994 he took a step further and assumed the head coaching position of the Washington Redskins, where he stayed until 2001, but didn’t have much success with the Redskins, and was fired three games before the end of the season. After the unsuccessful stint with the Redskins ended, Norv became offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers for 2001 season, and then for the Miami Dolphins for 2002 and 2003 seasons. In 2004 he was appointed as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders, however, he continued with a negative record and was fired as an outcome to his poor results. After the Raiders, Norv joined the San Francisco 49ers as offensive coordinator, but after just one year left the club to become head coach of the San Diego Chargers.

He stayed in San Diego until 2012 and in his first three seasons had his best results in the NHL, finishing as the 1st team in AFC West, however, their playoff performance wasn’t one worth mentioning. After the 2010 season, the team started losing rather often, and in 2012 he had again a negative result at the end of the season.

After being tied up by the lack of talented players, Norv left the Chargers and signed with the Cleveland Browns as their new offensive coordinator, which added to his net worth. After the 2013 season, he joined the Minnesota Vikings for 2014 season, and stayed until 2016, when he decided to resign,Since when Norv has been without engagement.

Regarding his personal life, Norv has been married to Nancy Marpe since 1981; the couple has three children, including son Scott Turner, who is also an NHL coach.
