Osborne Earl “Nikko” Smith, a singer, song writer and “American Idol” participant, was born on 28 April 1982, in St. Louis, Missouri USA. Although a talented singer and song writer, Nikko Smith is best known for his appearance in American Idol.

Nikko Smith is the son of the Baseball Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith, known as Ozzie “the wizard” Smith. He auditioned for the ninth season of American Idol and was selected, but was later voted off in the third round of the semi-finals along with Travis Tucker. Later one of the contestants named Mario Vasquez was forced to drop out from the program and Nikko Smith got his second chance which he made full use of, as he performed brilliantly and made it to the top 10. In the elimination round he sang “One Hand One Heart” from West Side Story and he was given the name of “The Comeback Kid” by Judge Paula Abdul but unfortunately was still eliminated, overall placed ninth, but gaining a huge fan base through it.
