Nagavara Ramarao Narayana Murthy was born on the 20th August 1946 in Sidlaghatta, Kolar District, Karnataka Indi, and is best known as a co-founder of Infosys, a business consulting corporation, where he served as its CEO from 1981 until 2001, and was also its chairman from 2002 to 2011. He has been active in the IT industry since the1970s.

When it comes to his personal life, Murthy has been married to Sudha since 1978, and with whom he has two children. His wife is a receiver of the gold medal from the Indian Institute of Engineers. She holds the M.E in Computer Science. She has also been dedicated to philanthropy through the Infosys Foundation. Their son, Rohan is a student at the Harvard University, and for a short time joined Murthy as an executive assistant, but left in 2014.
