Morgan Spurlock Wiki Biography
Morgan Valentine Spurlock was born on 7 November 1970, in Parkerburg, West Virginia, USA, of Scots-Irish and English descent. Morgan is a film director and producer, screenwriter and humorist perhaps best known for producing such documentaries as “Where In the World Is Osama Bin Laden”, “One Direction: This Is Us”, and the Academy Award nominated “Super Size Me” among others.
So just how rich is Morgan Spurlock? It has been estimated by sources that the total amount of Morgan Spurlock’s net worth is $10 million, with his wealth coming from his career as a producer, and a performer on the TV serial “30 days”.
Morgan Spurlock was educated at Woodrow Wilson High School in Beckley, West Virginia, and then graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in film from the NYU Tisch School of the Arts in 1993, where he became a member of the fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, emphasizing ethical standards, values and lifelong relationships.
Morgan Spurlock’ first significan T production was “I Bet You Will” (2002), a provocative MTV show in which people were paid for doing some unusual things, for example, eating a full jar of mayonnaise ($235), and for eating a worm – $265. The show contributed considerably to Morgan’s net worth.
“Super Size Me”(2004) was Spurlock`s first internationally acknowledged documentary, about how Morgan experimented with fast food – he set himself to eat a super-sized meal three times every day at McDonald`s for a whole month. The consequences of this drastic experiment were becoming overweight and with some diseases, such as depression and liver dysfunction. However, it was a documentary with real facts and a unique idea, and from that Morgan managed to accumulate a huge part of his current net worth.
Another original idea from Morgan Spurlock was the reality show “30 days” which he directed: for 30 days people lived a life way different from their real one, in a different place, and taking another social position, such as becoming a homosexual or a criminal. The idea of this show was to reveal common social problems. This was also a success during 2005-08, and added further to Morgan’s net worth.
Morgan Spurlock’s “Where In the World Is Osama Bin Laden” was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2008; the topic of terrorism was elaborated on, adding great income to Morgan Spurlock’s net worth. The movie was dedicated to Spurlock`s son Laken James Spurlock, born in 2006.
Morgan Spurlock then further increased his net worth by directing “The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special! – In 3-D! On Ice!” (2010). Premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in 2010, the documentary “Freakonomics: The Movie” was also directed by Morgan Spurlock along with five other directors, based on the book of the same name written by economist Steven D. Levitt and writer Stephen J. Dubner. Morgan Spurlock is also known as the director of “The Greatest Movie Ever Sold” (2011), a documentary about marketing and advertising.
Spurlock enhanced his net worth by establishing a short-film content marketing company. Its major product is considered to be Focus Forward Campaign for GE. As in 2013 Morgan became a producer of CNN show “Inside Man”, new revenues entered Morgan Spurlock’s net worth.
In his personal life, Morgan Spurlock was married to Alexandra Jamieson(2006-11) and they have a son. Morgan currently resides in New York.

Morgan Spurlock Quotes
- There are all these stereotypical views of what ‘Comic-Con’ is about – like the sweaty, smelly guy who lives in his parents’ basement. Well, you still have the guy who lives in his parents’ basement, but you’re also getting the blossom of geek love because female attendance keeps rising.
- My girlfriend [Alexandra] and I have since split up, my work being one of the contributing factors…
- Stuff can make you feel good, but you have to do something deeper to make you feel whole. For me, it’s making movies with a great team who feel as fulfilled as I do, and spending time with my family. And for my family it’s Mane and Tail Shampoo ..all the way.
- [on ‘POM Presents: The Greatest Movie Ever Sold’ which deals with product placement] If he were alive today, who would Jesus have as a corporate sponsor? Jesus would definitely be sponsored by Birkenstock. And let’s face it, Birkenstock would fit his image of being a natural Earth-loving son… But of course, I prefer Merrells.
- [Responding to an observation about his light-hearted approach to the search for Osama bin Lauden] Nobody likes to be poked with a stick. But everybody likes to be tickled with a feather.
- [Commenting on “Super Size Me”] “As one family member told me, it’s simply a really good bad idea. I guess our timing was perfect. And that’s really exciting.”
