Monica Denise Brown, commonly known as Monica, is a famous American songwriter, actress, singer, as well as a record producer. Monica debuted in the music industry when she was 15 years old, as in 1995 she released her debut studio album under the name of “Miss Thang”. Monica’s first attempt topped the music charts, and in addition to selling 1.5 million copies, spawned four singles, two of which, namely “Before You Walk out of My Life” and “Don’t Take It Personal”, became extremely popular. At the time, Monica was the youngest artist to have two singles that made it to the Billboard Top R&B music chart. Monica’s big breakthrough came several years later, in 1998, when she released her second studio album entitled “The Boy Is Mine”. A mixture of R&B and hip-hop soul, the album enjoyed a huge commercial, as well as critical success, and was praised for its creativity and the progress it showed from her first album. “The Boy Is Mine” went on to sell more than 2 million copies in the United States, and was eventually certified triple-platinum by the RIAA. In addition to her success as a singer, Monica also managed to launch a profitable acting career. She made her debut on television screens in 1996, when she made an appearance in a police drama called “New York Undercover”. Ever since then, she starred in “All That”, “Love Song” directed by Julie Dash, a drama series with Brittany Snow and Tom Verica entitled “American Dreams”, and in 2009 launched her own reality series under the name of “Monica: Still Standing”. A famous singer, as well as an actress, how rich is Monica? The sources state that Monica’s net worth is estimated to be $20 million. Undoubtedly, most of Monica’s net worth and wealth came from her involvement in the entertainment industry.
Born in 1980, in Atlanta, Georgia, Monica studied at the North Clayton High School, together with a fellow rap artist 2 Chainz. When she was 11 years old, Monica’s talents were noticed by Dallas Austin, a record producer who had worked with such artists as TLC, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Madonna and Pink. Soon after meeting with Austin, Monica was offered a record deal with “Arista Records”, which she eventually accepted. Monica began working in studio immediately, and in 1995 released her debut album called “Miss Thang”. When Monica became widely recognized in the music industry, she started working on many collaborations with other artists, including Nas, Jermaine Dupri, Kanye West, Jazze Pha and others. More recently, Monica made an appearance on a popular talent series called “The Voice”, where she advised to Cee Lo Green, who was one of the coaches on the show. In 2012, Monica came out with her eighth studio album entitled “New Life”, which peaked at #4 on the Billboard music chart and sold more than 69 000 copies during its debut week.
