According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Vaughn’s net worth is as high as $60 million, an amount mostly earned through his career as a baseball player. After retirement he became Managing Director of OMNI New York LLC, starting a career in real estate, which has also improved his wealth.
Mo started playing baseball from an early age when he attended Trinity-Pawling School through 7 to 12 grade. He then became a student at Seton Hall, continuing to play baseball under coach Mike Sheppar, setting school records for most home runs in one season with 28, for 218 runs batted in (RBI) and total home runs with 57. In 1987 he led his team to the Big East Conference Baseball Tournament and victory in the finals, while also becoming MVP of the tournament.
Mo was drafted by the Boston Red Sox as the 23rd overall pick from the 1989 Amateur MLB Draft, and made his debut in the MLB on the 21st June 1991. In his first season, Mo played in 74 games and posted 57 home runs with 32 runs batted in. His numbers began to increase, and in 1993 he became one of the main players of the Red Sox. Mo’s form continued to improve which earned him several prestigious awards, including the Silver Slugger Award in 1995, also named AL MVP the same year, and participated in his first All-Star game. Mo played for the Red Sox until 1998, and during that time recorded two more All-Star appearances, in 1996 and 1998.
His contract expired after 1998 season, and he joined the Anaheim Angels, signing a contract worth $80 million over six years, becoming the highest paid player in the league at that time.
