According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Mithun’s net worth is over $40 million, accumulated through his successful involvement in the Indian Bollywood industry as a professional actor. Other sources are coming from his career as the founder of a hotel chain, and from his involvement in politics.

Mithun Chakraborty is the son of Santirani and Basantokumar Chakraborty. He attended the Scottish Church College of the University of Calcutta, from which he graduated with a degree in Chemistry. Afterwards, he enrolled at the Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, where he also earned a degree. Before he became an actor, he was very active as a member of the radical Naxalite fold, however, he left it when his brother was killed.

Mithun’s professional acting career began in 1976, when he made his debut appearance in the role of Ghinua in the film “Mrigayaa”, directed by Mrinal Sen. Two year later, he appeared in the successful film “Mera Rakshak” (1978), which was followed by the role of CBI Officer Gopi in “Surakksha” (1979), after which he was chosen to play in a number of lead roles in other film projects, such as “Tarana” (1979) and Basu Charrerjee’s film “Prem Vivah” in the same year, which marked the beginning of an increase of his net worth.

During the 1980s, Mithun continued to line up success after success, appearing in over 110 Bollywood film titles, which added a considerable amount to his net worth. In 1982, he starred in the film “Disco Dancer”, which extended his popularity not only in India, but also in Russia. Beside that, he also had small roles in such film titles as “Shaukeen” (1982), “Hum Se Hai Zamana” (1983), and “Wanted: Dead Or Alive” (1984). In the following year, Mithun was selected for the role of Ajay Khanna in the super-hit film “Pyar Jhukta Nahin”, which was followed by the role of Javar in “Ghulami” (1985). In 1989, he set the record of starring in 19 film titles in the same year, then in the next year he played in the role of Krishnan Iyer MA in a film entitled “Agneepath”.

Iyer, and as Prakash in the 1999 film “Benaam”, among others, all of which increased his net worth by a large margin. Moreover, during the 1990s, he established his own production company called Mithun’s Dream Factory.

The next big role for Mithun came in the new millennium, when he was chosen to portray Baba Sikandar in the 2005 film “Elaan”, after that he landed the role of Krishnadeb Chatterjee aka Fatakesto in “M.L.A. Fatakesto” (2006), which he reprised later in its spin-off “Minister Fatakesto” (2007).
