Michel “Mike” Krieger is an entrepreneur and software engineer, born on 4 March 1986, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and is best known as the co-founder of the Instagram social network. Previously, Mike worked at Meebo as a user experience designer and front-end engineer.

Despite their mishap, Mike didn’t lose hope and suggested working on a mobile app which would remove everything except the photos and comment feature, and the result was Instagram – an abbreviation of instant photograph or telegram – and the app’s first version was given to their friends for reviews. Instagram was launched online in October 2010, and has since become one of the most successful social network applications. Already at the beginning of 2011, Instagram had millions of users, and attracted investments from several companies such as Netscape, Facebook and Twitter. By the end of the year, it was elected the best software among the 500 000 iPhone apps, by Apple.
