Michele Ann Marie Fabares was born on 19 January 1944, in Santa Monica, California, USA. She is a singer and actress, probably best known for her appearances in shows such as “The Donna Reed Show” and “Coach”. She also appeared with Elvis Presley in three films, and had a recording of “Johnny Angel” which reached the top of the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. All her efforts have helped put her net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Shelley Fabares? As of mid-2016, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $1.5 million, mostly earned through a successful career in acting. She also had a recording contract and has won numerous awards for her work on television, in film and music. All of these have ensured her current wealth.
Fabares was raised in a family familiar with the acting world as she was the niece of actress Nanette Fabray. She started her acting career at the age of 10, appearing in an episode of “Letter to Loretta”. She continued with various guest appearances until she was given the role of Mary Stone in “The Donna Reed Show”, which aired from 1958 to 1963. Her net worth was established.
Her popularity in the show led to her musical talent being discovered, and she was eventually given a recording contract. “Johnny Angel” became the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100, and sold over one million copies certifying it gold. She then left “The Donna Reed Show” to pursue film opportunities, but later returned as a recurring guest of the show. She also stopped her music career when she started to make more films, transitioning from child roles to more mature adult roles. She appeared in various films such as “Clambake”, “Spinout”, and “Girl Happy” which were all Elvis Presley movies. She also played romantic interests of characters in “Hold On!” and “A Time to Sing”. In the 1970s, she returned to television, and subsequently made numerous appearances in shows such as “Fantasy Island”, “Mannix”, “Mary Hartman” and “The Rockford Files”. She was also known for being part of the television movie “Brian’s Song”, which starred Billy Dee Williams. Shelley was then cast in “One Day at a Time” during the 1980s. In 1989, she would become a part of the series “Coach” and would be nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards.
In 1994, she was given a “Lifetime Achievement” Award from the Young Artist Foundation for her role in “The Donna Reed Show”. She also tried her hand at voice acting, lending her voice for “Superman: The Animated Series”, and also voiced for an episode of “Justice League” and the film “Superman: Braniac Attacks”.
For her personal life, Shelley married Lou Adler in 1964 but they separated two years later, eventually divorcing in 1980. Four years after the divorce, she married actor Mike Farrell who had two children from a previous marriage. Shelley received a liver transplant during 2000 which saved her life. She was also known to be lifelong friends with Annette Funicello who passed away due to multiple sclerosis in 2013.
