Have you ever wondered how rich Melanie Fiona is, as of late 2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Melanie Fiona’s net worth is as high as $4 million, an amount earned through her successful career in music. In addition to having a solo career, Fiona was also a part of a girl band trio called X-Quisite, which improved her wealth too.
Melanie Fiona is a daughter of a banker mother, and a father who was a janitor before working in finance. Her parents are Guyanese, who immigrated to Canada in the late 1970s. Fiona began writing songs when she was 16, and as her father was a guitarist in a band he often allowed her to sit on the stage right next to him.In 2002, Fiona, Nicole Holness, and Nirvana Savoury formed a group called X-Quisite and signed a contract with Warner Music (Canada), and they released their debut studio self-titled album in 2003. The release received a Juno Award nomination for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, while the singles “Bad Girl” and “No Regrets” were among the most popular ones. However, only three years after formation, the group disbanded, and the singers went on to pursue respective solo careers.
However, before she began her solo career, Melanie performed in Toronto nightclubs, and she also was a part of a group called The Renaissance, along with the Toronto-born rapper Drake. In 2007, the entrepreneur Steve Rifkind discovered Fiona and secured her a deal with SRC Records and Universal Motown, and almost immediately she accompanied Kanye West on his Glow in the Dark Tour. In November 2009, Fiona’s debut album entitled “The Bridge” came out, and received favorable reviews while also achieving gold status with over 500,000 copies sold. It peaked at No. 27 on US Billboard 200, No. 98 on the UK Albums chart, and No. 4 on US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The singles “Give It to Me Right”, “Monday Morning”, “Priceless”, and “It Kills Me” reached respectable positions on the charts around the world, with the latter earning her a Grammy Award nomination for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance.
Melanie’s second studio album – “The MF Life” – came in 2012 and it topped the US Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, and at No. 32 on the UK R&B Albums Chart. Some of the fellow artists such as J. Cole, Nas, B.o.B, John Legend, and T-Pain featured on the album, while the singles “This Time”, “4 AM”, and “Gone and Never Coming Back” – which secured her a Juno Award for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year – were among the most successful ones, helping to increase her net worth significantly. In January 2012, Fiona sang “O Canada” at the NHL Winter Classic between the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers, while the same year, she received two Grammy Awards for song “Fool for You” with CeeLo Green. The awards came in categories Best Traditional R&B Performance and Best R&B Song.
She is currently finishing her latest album “Awake” which will be released at the end of 2016 or early 2017.
Regarding her personal life, Melanie Fiona is in a relationship with singer/songwriter Jared Cotter, and the pair announced that they had a son named Cameron Lincoln Cotter, born in March 2016.
