MC Shan Wiki Biography
Shawn Moltke was born on 6 September 1965, in Queens, New York City USA, and is an R&B and hip hop recording artist, best known for the song “The Bridge” which was produced by Marley Marl. He also collaborated with Snow on the international number one hit single “Informer”, but all of his endeavors have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is MC Shan? As of mid-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $2 million, mostly earned through success in the music industry. He’s released numerous singles and several albums over the course of his career which began in themed-‘80s. As he continues his work, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
MC grew up in the Long Island City section of Queens. He made a big step in his career in 1985 when he signed with MCA Records, and released his first major single entitled “Feed the World”. The following year, he became a part of the documentary “Big Fun in the Big Town” in which he was interviewed; this Dutch documentary discussed the rock and hip hop scene of America. Shan was eventually dropped from MCA, and then signed with Cold Chillin’ Records thanks to his connection with Marley Marl, and joined the Juice Crew All-Stars, a hip hop collective consisting of a lot of artists from the same area. He released a few singles as part of the group, and also several solo singles. It eventually led to his debut album entitled “Down by Law” in 1987, and his net worth started increasing at this point.
MC became a key personality in the Bridge Wars, a hip-hop rivalry between the Juice Crew and Boogie Down Productions, which began when Shan released a song entitled “The Bridge” which was considered a B-side to the song “Beat Biter”, directed at LL Cool J. This prompted Boogie Down member KRS-One to respond with the song “South Bronx”, and led Juice Crew to create “Kill That Noise”. The feud was notable as it helped propel the career of several members of each group. Boogie Down would release “The Bridge is Over”, and many thought that it was the final diss track between the rivalry, but Shan replied later with “Da Bridge 2001”.
Shan then worked on the album “Born to Be Wild” in 1988, and two years later worked on “Play It Again, Shan” which displayed a more mature style. However, it was his last album. He released two more singles as part of the sub-label “Livin’ Large”, but afterwards he focused on a more production-focused career. He helped Snow create “12 Inches of Snow” which had the single “informer”, then tried his hand at films, appearing in a small role in “LA Story” as Rappin’ Waiter, and on the Sum 41 song “Dave’s Possessed Hair/It’s What We’re All About” as a guest rapper.
For his personal life, there is no general information about any relationships, but Shan is the cousin of producer Marley Marl. He is also the older brother of radio personality Princess Ivori.
