Max Levchin was born on the 15th July 1975, in Kiev, USSR (now Ukraine). He is an entrepreneur, web developer and programmer, best known as one of the founders of PayPal, the world’s largest electronic payment system. Max was named the Innovator of the Year by Technology Review TR100 in 2002. Currently, he is the CEO of the financial technology company Affirm. More, Levchin is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Yelp, Inc. Max Levchil has been active in the technology industry since 1998.

To begin with, the boy was born into a Jewish family. His father is known in literary circles as the poet and novelist – Rafael Levchin, whereas his mother is a theoretical physicist – Lily Zeltsman. As a child, Max suffered respiratory problems due to small lung capacity, so serious that doctors thought the boy might die; fortunately, taking up clarinet lessons helped to solve the problem. In 1991, under the influence of a firm anti-Soviet Rafael Zalmanovich, the family emigrated to the USA, where they settled in Chicago. Progressing, in 2004 Levchin launched his own startup – Slide – which is the main development for the service to display a large number of photos for social network MySpace.
