Matthew’s career started in the late ‘90s.
Have you ever wondered how rich Matthew Morrison is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources it has been estimated that Morrison’s net worth is as high as $10 million, an amount earned through his successful career in the entertainment industry.
Matthew is the son of Mary and Tom Morrison, and has Scottish roots. Although born in Fort Ord, he grew up in Chico, California, attending Los Alamitos High School where he was a part of the Collaborative Arts Project 21 (CAP 21), and then Orange County High School of the Arts. During his high school years, Matthew with future actress Jodie Sweetin, was a star of a musical, and after matriculation, he enrolled at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, however, he dropped out of studies after two years, focusing on his acting career.
He made his first Broadway appearance in “Footloose” in 1999, and then featured in “The Rocky Horror Show” (2002). The same year he got his big break with the role of Link Larkin in “Hairspray”, and continued with his stage appearances when in 2005 he portrayed Fabrizio Nacarelli in “The Light in the Piazza”, for which he received a Tony Award nomination. Some other notable stage appearances include roles in “Catch Me If You Can” (2005), “A Naked Girl on the Appian Way” (2005), “South Pacific” (2008), and “Finding Neverland” (2015), all of which increased his net worth.
Thanks to his success on stage, Matthew also tried himself as a screen actor, and made a few appearances in TV series such as “The Wonderful World of Disney” (2005), “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” (2006), and was then selected to portray Adam Musnon in the soap opera “As the World Turns” (2006). In 2007 he appeared in the romantic comedy “Music and Lyrics”, starring Drew Barrymore, Hugh Grant and Scott Porter, and two years later starred in the role of Will Schiester in the TV series “Glee” (2009-2015), which significantly increased his net worth, as he appeared in more than 100 episodes, and was earning $80,000 per episode. Also, the role brought him some prestigious awards and nominations, including the two Golden Globe Award- nominations, and a Satellite Award in category Best Actor in a Series, Comedy or Musical, among many others. While the show lasted, Matthew made several other appearances, including in the Golden Globe Award- winning war drama “Taking Chance” (2009), and romantic comedy “What to Expect When You Are Expecting” (2012).
In recent years, Matthew starred in the film “After the Reality” (2016), while also portraying Connor Fox in the TV drama series “The Good Wife” (2016), and Mattheus in the romantic drama “Tulip Fever” (2017).
Matthew also launched singing career, to date releasing two studio albums “Matthew Morrison” (2011), and “Where It All Began” (2013), the sales of which increased his wealth.
Regarding his personal life, Matthew has been married to Renee Puente since 2014.

Matthew Morrison Quotes
- I’m not comfortable with the idea of my sex appeal, but I know in my job I have to use it. I wish I could say I got to this point in my career based on my talent, but I don’t think that’s true.
- [on working on Broadway] – There were all these beautiful, beautiful dancers. As a straight guy I had some room. There were the shared interests in singing and dancing, and I always find dancing with someone very evocative and sexual. I definitely hooked up with a lot of girls when I was a young guy on Broadway. It was exciting. Very joyous and free.
- [on the newer movie version of Hairspray (2007)] I’ve heard the rumor about John Travolta playing “Edna Turnblad” and it’d be interesting, but I want Harvey [Harvey Fierstein] to do it; he’s the man – or woman – for the job. They might see me for “Link”, but they’d probably go for Justin Timberlake.
- [When asked in an interview whether the widespread rumor that he is John Wayne’s grandson is true] Oh, God! That is just a rumor, but I would have no shame in perpetuating it. I’ll be John Wayne’s grandson! You know, his real name was Marion Morrison — and if you look at pictures of him and me, it’s quite uncanny.
