Matthew Montgomery Barkley Wiki Biography

Matthew Montgomery Barkley was born on 8 December 1990, in Newport Beach, California USA, and is known as an American Football player who has been connected with several National Football League (NFL) clubs, and is currently a free agent.

So just how rich is Matt Barkley as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, this football player has a net worth of over $2 million, accumulated from his career in the mentioned field.

When it comes to his education, Matt attended Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, and in 2005 became the first freshman quarterback in the school, since Todd Marinovich. During his freshman year there, he had 10 touchdowns and passed for 1,685 yards, however, he faced an injury, due to which he broke his collarbone and ended his season during playoffs.  In three years, he ultimately had 57 touchdowns and passed for 6,994 yards, and was named 2007 football Gatorade National Player of The Year, the Gatorade National Male Athlete of the Year, and won the 2007 Glenn Davis Award. In 2009 he was rated as the top prospect for the class by ESPN.

Having graduated from high school one semester early, Matt enrolled in the University of Southern California, in order to participate in the spring practice with the USC Trojans, and played for the team over the next four seasons. In late August, during his fall practices, he was named the starter for that season and was supposed to start a game against San Jose State. Having had a slow first quarter, he finished his first college game with one touchdown and 233 yards and his team had a 56-3 victory. In 2011, Matt led his team to a victory in the opening week, with the result of 49-36, scoring with five passing touchdowns. As of his 2011 season, Barkley set the USC single-game record for completions with 34 against Minnesota, and in early October of the same year against Arizona, he had set a 468-yards passing record. Overall, by the end of the season, he had scored 39 touchdowns and ended up winning the 2011 CFPA National Performer of the Year Trophy. However, in 2012 a shoulder injury ended his season and college career early, with USC failing to make the play-offs.

In 2013, he was picked in the fourth round of the NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, and in late October he made his NFL debut against the Dallas Cowboys. However, problems with his shoulder hampered his play, and in 2015 he was traded to the Arizona Cardinals, and according to the terms of trade, he had to be on the roster for six total games. Having fulfilled that, Matt left the team in September 2016, and joined the Chicago Bears’ practice team and was ultimately elevated to the active roster in late September of the mentioned year. Injuries gave Barkley a chance to make his debut for the team against the Green Bay Packers, however, his subsequent performances were inconsistent – in a game against the Packers, he threw for the most yards against the team, 362, but against the Washington Redskins was intercepted five times.

In mid-March 2017, he signed a two-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers, but was beaten out for the quarterback position by C.J. Beathard and Brian Hoyer, and so in November he signed a contract with the Arizona Cardinals once again, but was inactive for the entire season. Most recently, in March 2018 Matt signed a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, so his net worth is still rising.

When it comes to his private life, Barkley has been married to his high-school sweetheart, Brittany Langdon since 2013, and they have a son. He is a Christian, and is active on social media such as Twitter and Instagram, followed by 115,000 people on the former and over 50,000 on the latter.
