Matt Lightstone Wiki Biography
Matthew Charles Light was born on 23 June 1978, in Logan, Ohio USA, and is a retired professional American Football player, best known for having played as an offensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for the New England Patriots. He also played for Purdue University and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Matt Light? As of mid-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $10 million, mostly earned through a successful career in professional football. He played in the NFL from 2001 to 2011 and won three Super Bowls with his team. As he continues his endeavors in broadcasting, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
Matt attended Greenville High School and played football during his time there, as a linebacker and also played guard, tackle, and tight end. He also competed in track and field, specifically shot put and was a district champion. After matriculating, he attended Purdue University and played for the Purdue Boilermakers from 1996 to 1999. He began his career as a true freshman tight end, and redshirted in 1997. In 1998, he moved to left tackle and two years later, he would earn first-team All-Big Ten recognition. He helped his team get a Big Ten title and a Rose Bowl Game appearance that season.
Light joined the 2001 NFL Draft and was selected in the second round by the New England Patriots. He started 12 games during his rookie season in which the Patriots would win Super Bowl XXXVI against the St. Louis Rams. The following year, he started all 16 games at left tackle for the team, but they missed the playoffs. In 2003, he would earn his second Super Bowl ring and was a part of the strong defensive line in Super Bowl XXXVIII which they were up against the Carolina Panthers. Success continued for the team in 2004 and his net worth increased significantly. A large part of this was thanks to a six year contract extension worth $27 million. He then got his third Super Bowl ring against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XXXIX.
In 2005, Matt was sidelined after a broken leg and was placed on the injured reserve list. He returned in 2006 and would later become part of the 2007 Pro Bowl, replacing the injured Jonathan Ogden, his first career Pro Bowl appearance. The following season, he was part of the Patriots run to Super Bowl XLII which they would lose to the New York Giants, but afterwards he was elected to the 2008 Pro Bowl. He also became an injury replacement at the 2010 Pro Bowl. In 2011, he signed a two year contract with the Patriots, increasing his net worth somewhat before officially announcing his retirement the following year.
Light joined “ESPN” after retiring, and works there as an NFL Analyst. He’s contributed to the network’s various shows including “SportsCenter”, “Sunday NFL Countdown”, “NFL Live”, “ESPN First Take”, and “NFL32”.
For his personal life, it is known that Matt is married to Susie and they have four children. He started his own non-profit fund to help kids who need a mentor towards success, called the Light Foundation.
