Marv Albert Wiki Biography
Marvin Philip Aufrichtig was born on the 12th June 1941, and more commonly known as Marv Albert is an American sports caster, who became popular for calling the games of the National Basketball League team, the New York Knicks.
So how much is Albert’s net worth? As of mid 2016, it is estimated by authoritative sources to be over $25 million, acquired from his years being a sportscaster, calling games from college basketball to professional basketball and other sports.
Born in Brooklyn, New York City USA, Albert came from a simple Jewish family that owned a grocery store. He attended Abraham Lincoln High School and later at Syracuse University studying at their Newhouse School of Public Communications. He later finished his studies at New York University in 1965.
After graduation, Albert was able to attain a job at the National Basketball League team, the New York Knicks as their ball boy. This job eventually led to being Marty Glickman’s assistant at his radio play-by-play. This radio job started his career in being a sports caster, and was also the basis of his net worth.
In 1967, Albert became the voice behind the New York Knicks games, and eventualy became an icon. He held the position for 37 years and coined many memorable terms that he became known for. His years working for the Knicks made him very well-known in the world of sports, and tremendously added to his wealth. In 2004, he was let go for criticizing the team because of their poor performance.
Aside from calling the games for New York Knicks, Albert also worked with the New Jersey Nets and also became a broadcaster for the show “NBA on NBC” from 1990 to 2002. He also worked with TNT on hosting NBA games. Basketball is not the only sport that Albert worked with, as he also became a broadcaster for the New York Giants football games and the New York Rangers ice hockey team. All of his other endeavours also helped increase his net worth.
Albert became popular for his many appearances with David Letterman too, spoofing NBA clips and bloopers that also became an icon for the show.
With his extensive work, Albert became a celebrity in his own right. Appearing in shows like “Celebrity Death Match”, “The Simpsons”, and the film “Grandma’s Boy” and various other movies and shows also helped increase his wealth.
Today, Albert is still active for the NBA, but is now working less, letting go of some commitments like calling for NCAA, stating that he cannot handle too much work.
