According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Farner’s net worth is as high as $16 million, an amount earned through his successful career in music. In addition to being a frontman of the popular rock band, Farner also has a solo career, and has released six studio albums which improved his wealth.
Mark Farner began his musical career in 1965 when he joined the band called The Pack, while he also played in The Bossmen (1966), and The Fabulous Pack (1967-1968). In 1969, Farner, Don Brewer (drums), and Mel Schacher (bass guitar) formed the Grand Funk Railroad, the band that released 13 studio albums from 1969 to 1983.
Their debut album was “On Time” (1969), and it achieved the golden status, peaking at the No. 27 on Billboard 200 chart. “Grand Funk” (1969) had a better commercial success, and it reached No. 11 on the Billboard 200, while the single “Mr. Limousine Driver” entered the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 97th place. Their third release called “Closer to Home” (1970), peaked at No. 6 on Billboard 200, and with “Survival” (1971) repeated that achievement. Also in 1971, their fifth album “E Pluribus Funk” managed to enter into the top five on the Billboard 200 (the best position to date), which only increased Mark`s net worth.
The keyboardist, Craig Frost joined the band in 1973, and he played on the seventh studio album “We’re an American Band” which peaked at the No. 2 position on Billboard 200, with single “We’re an American Band”, topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart. By the end of the ‘70s, the band had released four more albums, two of which were placed on Billboard top 10, but in 1976 they disbanded, so Farner had the opportunity to pursue a solo career.
In 1977, Farner’s self-titled album came out, and one year later, he released “No Frills”. In 1981, Grand Funk Railroad reunited, and they recorded “Grand Funk Lives”, without bassist Mel Schacher and keyboard player Craig Frost. Unfortunately, the album failed to achieve notable commercial success, as did their latest “What’s Funk?” (1983). Farner has released four more solo albums with “For the People” (2006) being the most recent one.
