She has also starred in other TV and film titles, including “Sabrina” (1954), “Honky” (1971), “The Evening Star” (1996), etc. Besides those, Marion is also recognized as a voice artist. Her career has been active since 1954.
So, have you ever wondered how rich Marion Ross is, as of mid-2016? It has been estimated according to authoritative sources that Marion’s net worth is over $10 million, accumulated through her career in the entertainment industry as both an actress and a voice artist.
Marion Ross was born to Gordon and Ellen Ross, and spent her childhood time divided between Waconia, Willmar, and Albert Lea. When she was 13 years old, she decided to change her name from Marian to Marion. While high school, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she became a student of drama at the MacPhail Center for the Arts, and parallel with that she attended Southwest High School. As her family in the following year moved to San Diego, California, she matriculated from Point Loma High School. Upon that, she enrolled at San Diego State University, where she was named as the best actress, thanks to her acting skills. Right after graduation in 1950, she began to perform in a theater in La Jolla, California.
Subsequently, Marion’s television career began when she made her debut appearance in the 1953 film “Forever Female”, starring alongside such actors as William Holden and Ginger Rogers. She began increasing her popularity and establishing her net worth, as she was chosen in the same year for the role of Nora in the TV series “Life With Father” (1953-1955). In the following years she appeared in a number of titles, including “The Glenn Miller Story” (1954), “Lust For Life” (1956), and “Operation Petticoat” (1959).
The next big role came two years later, as she began to appear regularly in the role of Susan Green in the CBS series “The Gertrude Berg Show” (1961-1962). She continued to star in TV series during the 1960s, including in “Death Valley Days” (1961-1967), “Insight” (1964-1971), and “Paradise Bay” (1965-1966), increasing her net worth by a large margin. However, her breakout role came in 1974, when she was cast in the part of Marion Cunningham in the TV series “Happy Days”, for which she received two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. Later, she reprised her role in its spin-off series “Joanie Loves Chachi” and “Family Guy”.
The next decade didn’t change too much for her, as she also had a number of roles in such titles as “Skyward” (1980) playing Natalie Ward, “Sins Of The Father” (1985) in the role of Caroline Harris, and in “Sister Kate” (1989) as Sister Agnes. In 1991, Marion began starring in the drama CBS series “Brooklyn Bridge” which ran until 1993, produced by David Goldberg. Before the 2000s, Marion also appeared in such titles as “Touched By An Angel” (1995-2003), “The Evening Star” (1996), “The Drew Carey Show” (1997-2004), and “That ’70s Show” (1998-1999), all of which contributed to her net worth.
To speak further of her accomplishments as an actress, in the first decade of the new millennium, she featured in such films and TV series as “Ladies And The Champ” (2001) playing Margaret Smith, “Gilmore Girls” (2001-2005) as Lorelai ‘Trix’ Gilmore, “Brothers & Sisters” (2007-2010) in the role of Ida Holden. In 2006, she became a regular in the TV series “Handy Manny”, increasing further her net worth.
Most recently, Marion guest-starred in “Grey’s Anatomy” (2010), “The Middle” (2013), and “Two And A Half Men” (2014). Furthermore, she is to appear in the film “Gloria Dais” (2016), which will also increase her net worth.
Apart from her successful career as a television actress, Marion is also known as a voice artist, as she provided her voice in such popular titles as “King Of The Hill” (2004) and “SpongeBob SquarePants” (2001-2011) among others, adding a lot to her net worth.
Regarding her personal life, Marion Ross was married to Freeman Herman Meskiman, Jr. from 1950 to 1968; they are the parents of two children – Jim Meskimen and Ellen Plummer – both of whom are involved in the entertainment industry. Later, she was in a relationship with actor Paul Michael from 1988 until his death in 2011. Her current residence is in Cardiff by the Sea, San Diego, California.
