Lucille Frances “Lucy” Ryan was born on the 29th March 1968, in Mount Albert, Auckland, New Zealand. As Lucy Lawless she is an actress, probably best known for starring in the role of Xena in the TV series “Xena: Warrior Princess” (1995-2001), and as Lucretia in “Spartacus: Blood and Sand” (2010). She has also appeared in films such as “Spider-Man” (2002), “Eurotrip” (2004), “Bitch Slap” (2009), among others. Her career has been active since 1989.

Have you ever wondered how rich is Lucy Lawless, as of early 2016? According to sources, it has been estimated that Lucy’s net worth is currently over $15 million. The main source of this sum of money is coming from her career as an actress, but she has also shown her musical skills, releasing two albums, and also having sold out several concerts at the Roxy Theater, Los Angeles, and the Canal Room; New York City, which also added to her overall net worth.

Lucy Lawless was born to banker Frank Ryan and teacher Julie Ryan as the fifth of six children. From an early age she showed an interest in music, and she appeared in her first music festival when she was only ten years old. Parallel with that, she started acting in school productions. Then, she went to Marist College in Auckland, where she studied opera. At the age of 21 she was first in the 1989 Mrs. New Zealand competition, having married Garth Lawless the previous year.

The same year, Lucy`s professional career began, by her appearing in the New Zealand sketch comedy series “Funny Business”. After the initial appearance, she enrolled at the William Davis Centre for Actors Study, acquiring a diploma in drama. In the following years, Lucy was featured in series such as “Shark In The Park” (1990), “For The Love Of Mike” (1991), and in 1994 she was cast as Lysia in the film “Hercules And The Amazing Women”, which led to her appearance in the TV series “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys” (1995-1998), in which she was cast firstly as Lysia, and later as Xena. The Xena character became immensely popular, and the same year the TV series “Xena: Warrior Princess” was created. The show ran for six seasons with Lucy in the lead role, which highly increased her net worth, but also her popularity, enabling her to fill new high-production roles. After the series ended Lucy was cast in several episodes of the extremely popular TV series “The X Files” (2001), and the following year, she was featured in the film “Spider-Man”, as the Punk-Rock Girl. Lucy`s next role that increased her net worth was the one as Kathleen Clayton in the TV series “Tarzan” (2003), and in 2004 she was cast as Madame Vandersexxx in the film “Eurotrip”. A year later, she starred in the horror film “Boogeyman”, which also added to Lucy`s overall wealth.

Lucy then widened her talents to voice acting, lending her voice to characters such as Wonder Women in the film “Justice League: The New Frontier” (2008), Goldmoon in the film “Dragonlance: Dragons of Autumn Twilight” (2008), and Stacy in the animated TV series “American Dad” (2011), further adding to her net worth.

To speak further of her career accomplishments, Lucy appeared in the TV series “No Ordinary Family” (2011) as Helen Burton, and when her character gained special powers, she also became Mrs. X. She was also cast in the TV series “Parks And Recreation” (2012-2014), “The Code” (2014), and “Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D (2014-2015). Most recently, Lucy was featured in the TV series “Salem” (2015), as Countess Marburg, and in the TV series “Ash Vs. The Evil Dead” (2015-2016). She has also voiced Hiidrala in the animated TV series “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2016), which also added to her overall net worth.

Overall, Lucy is a rather successful actress, as she has appeared in more than 60 TV and film titles, receiving several prestigious nominations and awards, such as the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress on Television for her work on “Spartacus: Blood and Sand”, and OFTA Television Award for Best Actress in a Syndicated Series for her work on “Xena: Warrior Princess”.

Speaking about Lucy Lawless’ personal life, before she married actor Rob Taper, with whom she has two sons, she was in marriage with Garth Lawless from 1988 to 1995, and they together welcomed a daughter. As with many other celebrities, Lucy is also known for charity work, as with the StarShip Foundation and the Starship Children’s Health. Her official fan club has marked the 21st September as the “Lucy Lawless Feel the Love Day/Week” since 2006.

Lucille Francis Ryan Quotes

  • I was black and blue for about two years, but it’s paid off tremendously. You know, if you get enough whacks, your reflexes pick up, and I’ve become quite good – if somebody throws keys or something, I can catch them.
  • For the first time in my life, I put my body and reputation on the line to stand up for my beliefs and do the right thing. I hope I’ve encouraged other people to do the same.
  • I am waiting for a sign that will indicate to me what meaning I must give to my life, but right now my existence is satisfactory.
  • My plan is to shock people with what I can do, because I’ve got a few sides to me that I’ve never used on screen.
  • We live at the edge of the world, so we live on the edge. Kiwis will always sacrifice money and security for adventure and challenge.
  • I don’t take business seriously, I take acting seriously. I take my job really seriously, but a lot of the job is not about acting, but I don’t take business seriously.
  • Usually? I don’t even consider myself usually. Soccer mom, that’s what I consider myself. Yeah, I think I’m a funny person. I started out in comedy. You know I remember the moment I realized the value of comedy is when I was eight years old and I was sitting in class and I realized that if I just acted really stupid, I could get away with a lot of stuff. And it would diffuse a lot of tension and the teachers would focus on you. I just found out the value of being a funny dunce at times.
  • Treat everyone the same until you find out they’re an idiot. Lucy Lawless, Starlog – Savage Sword of Xena.
