Lily Allen Wiki Biography
Lily Rose Beatrice Allen was born on 2 May 1985, in Hammersmith, London, England. She is a singer, actress, songwriter, and television personality, best known for her award winning music career. She is the daughter of film producer Alison Owen and Keith Allen. All of her efforts have helped put her net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Lily Allen? As of mid-2016, sources estimate a net worth that is at $20 million, mostly earned through a successful career in the music industry. She’s had a lot of hit singles and successful albums. She’s collaborated with various artists and as she continues her career it is expected that her wealth will increase.
One of Lily’s first appearances was on an episode of “The Comic Strip Presents…” which her father had co-written. Later on she would attend numerous schools. This was mainly because she had become delinquent, getting expelled numerous times for smoking and drinking. She was then discovered by Rachel Santesso who started giving her singing lessons. After singing a song for a school production of “Dumbo”, she decided to pursue music career fully. She learned the piano, took singing lessons, and started to learn various instruments. At the age of 15, she decided to drop out of school to focus on her music career.
Allen met her first manager in Ibiza, where she worked at a record store. During this time, she was rejected by numerous record labels but eventually used her father’s connections to get signed to London Records in 2002. However, when the executive who signed her left the label, they lost interest. She took some time to study horticulture but then returned to music, writing songs while looking for the next opportunity. In 2005, she was signed to Regal Recordings and they gave her money to produce her first album despite being busy with other popular bands such as Coldplay. This led to Lily posting on Myspace and her demos started to earn a significant amount of popularity. Eventually, her popularity led to her being noticed by her label and many publications.
Allen’s debut album entitled “Alright, Still” was released in 2006 and it contained a lot of her songs which were released on MySpace. Her album started to gain a lot of acclaim and was called one of the top 10 albums of 2006 by “Entertainment Weekly” despite not being released yet in the United States. The album eventually released in the US and reached the 20th spot in the Billboard 200. She started touring and promoting her album. In 2008, she was given a television deal entitled “Lily Allen and Friends” which had a lot of known guests including Mark Ronson, James Corden, and Joanna Page. The show only lasted for a season because of her music commitments.
After struggling to find direction for her next album, mainly because of creative disagreements, she started to post once again to her MySpace page. She cancelled a few appearances because her album was behind schedule and reports of her being intoxicated generated a lot of criticism. She had a lot of problems during this time and a miscarriage caused her next album “It’s Not Me, It’s You” to be delayed. It was released in early 2009 and reached the top of the charts for numerous countries. It certified platinum in the United Kingdom and Allen would then go on tour to promote it. Later in the year, she announced that she had no plans to make another record and would look into a career in acting.
In 2011, she launched her own record label and then started writing songs once again. The following year, she announced that she was working on another album and it was then revealed that her next album would be entitled “Sheezus”.
For her personal life, it is known that Allen had a relationship with Ed Simons and the couple were expecting a child but suffered miscarriage. She then dated Sam Cooper in 2009 however their first child had complications and was stillborn. They married in 2011 and now have two children.

Lily Allen Quotes
- I just swear in front of [my children]. I don’t find swearing offensive, I just find it a form of expression. I’m not going to encourage my kids to swear, but I’m not going to stop swearing because I don’t think it’s bad.
- I change with the way the world changes. My music is always social commentary. I don’t know what the world is going to be like in five years’ time, but as long as I’m not ashamed of what I’m putting out, then I’m happy.
- Can’t get through to NHS Direct, no midwives in your area ? Well at least the Queen got a nice birthday party/jubilee, whatever.
- I studied voice when I was at school, and I was in the chamber choir, and I studied music theory as well, so I guess a lot of it came from being taught at school.
- I think of myself as quite a confused kind of person, because I think there’s so many great things about the world, but there are so many awful things too. I feel very guilty a lot of the time about enjoying my life so much when there are people living in such misery.
- I wasn’t into anything at school. I used to get really embarrassed. I used to get asked to do performing things, and I’d go to all the rehearsals, and then I’d pretend to be ill on the day I had to actually perform. I was very unhappy at school.
- I’m just not a private person. It’s not like I do things because I want things to be public; it’s just that’s my way of expressing myself, and I happen to be very famous.
- You have to be in love with yourself before anyone else can fall in love with you; to be happy with yourself.
- Because of piracy there has been a massive downturn in people buying music, which makes it more difficult for artists to make money from the sale of records.
- I don’t really see how any song can not feel contrived if it isn’t honest, and how could I write honest songs if I don’t write about stuff going on in my life and how I’m feeling?
- I hang out with models, the biggest pop stars and, you know, really and honestly, I hate saying this, but none of them are achieving those body shapes by being healthy.
- I just felt like I couldn’t deal with the everyday responsibilities of life, paying bills and all of that. I’m terrible at all of that. So I knew I had to make enough money to pay someone else to deal with all of that.
- I think I’m like Marmite; you either love me or you hate me.
- I think the whole, like, cultural diversity and the arty side of London is really, really great. And how it’s so historic as well.
- I’ve always listened to music, since I was really, really young.
- When a music teacher that I had at school was taken ill and we had a variety show and I had to fill in – that’s when I realised I had a voice.
- Yeah, I was a florist. I went to floristry school.
- I like to be able to get up and go and buy a pint of milk without bumping into 20 people I know.
- I love MySpace; it’s done an amazing job for me and it’s been insane over the past couple of weeks, but I’m not a poster girl for them.
- I never go out to be photographed, never. I go to events because they’re fun.
- I refuse to put make-up on just because the paparazzi are on my doorstep. I find it morally wrong.
- I think as long as you’re not being malicious and you’re not hurting people then you should not be ashamed of what you do.
- I’m opinionated, but I’m not a vindictive person and I never say anything unprovoked, either.
- Sometimes I wish I was just a girl in an indie band. I could dance around on stage and it wouldn’t be so much about me.
- But Dad and I are the only father-and-daughter acts who have both had No. 1 songs in England.
- I don’t care what people think of me now, so why would I care when I’m dead?
- I don’t see myself as a role model; people should look to mothers and sisters as role models.
