Leslie Jones Wiki Biography
Born Annette Jones on the 7th September 1967, in Memphis, Tennessee USA, Leslie is a stand-up comedian and actress, probably best known to the world for being a cast member of the highly praised TV comedy show “Saturday Night Live”, and also as Patty Tolan in the film “Ghostbusters”, among many other appearances she has secured so far in her career.
Have you ever wondered how rich Leslie Jones is, as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Jones’ net worth is as high as $5 million, an amount earned through her successful career, active since the late ‘80s.
Leslie is a daughter of a US Army officer, and because of her father’s career, Leslie moved frequently throughout her childhood, living in Los Angeles at one time as well. She went to high school in Lynwood, California where she started playing basketball on a suggestion from her father. After successfully playing for her high school, Leslie received a scholarship to play basketball for Chapman University, but after one year she moved to Colorado State University. During her studies, Leslie often changed her calling, switching from becoming a lawyer to a business accountant, and later computer science, while she eventually majored in communications. However, before receiving her degree, Leslie left school, following her victory at a comedy contest – “Funniest Person on Campus”, moving to Los Angeles and starting to pursue her career as a comedian.
After a few appearances in the underground scene, Leslie became regular at such clubs as UPS, and Roscoe’s House of Chicken, but after meeting with Mother Love and Dave Chappelle, Leslie moved to New York City in search of a breakthrough. She made an appearance on BET’s ComicView, but then returned to Los Angeles, reaching The Comedy Store, however, she wasn’t greeted well by the public, and then while being an opening act to Jamie Foxx, Leslie and her comedy experienced a catastrophic result, being booed off stage, which made her think about her further career, and she didn’t perform for the next three years.
Leslie’s luck turned for the better in 2008; first, she was a part of Katt Williams’ tour It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’, and two years later made a comedy special – “Problem Child” – aired on Showtime.
She was gradually improving her career, and in 2014 she became a part of the “Saturday Night Live” (SNL). Firstly she was a writer, then she was brought onto the show, and since then has been nominated for several prestigious awards for her work on the show, including a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, and Writers Guild of America Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy/Variety Series. Since she started appearing in “SNL”, Leslie has reached stardom and has featured in several other variety shows, including “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, and “Late Night with Seth Meyers”, among others all of which increased her net worth.
Leslie has also managed to launch her acting career; she appeared in such popular films as “Masterminds” (2016), starring Zach Galifianakis, Kristen Wiig and Owen Wilson, and the same year appeared in the “Ghostbusters” remake, which increased her net worth, but also put her in a difficult position, since she received a number of racial insults through Twitter, while also her website was hacked.
Despite those slurs, Leslie has successfully continued her career continues to be one of the stars on “SNL”.
When it comes to her personal life, Leslie has kept her most intimate details private, however, she is rumoured to be dating fellow “SNL” cast member Kyle Mooney..
